Did give that some thought, but the quilt is a king size and I do not have a long arm. to much bulk to try and sew on a regular machine. thanks for the intrest.

Thank you

Beautiful

If you still have seams fraying a little dab of fray check will do wonders.

Ramona Byrd 08-15-2011 09:40 AM

Thank you for the confindence, but as I was quilting in the ditch some of the seems were pulling apart, had to top stitch on some of them.
---------------------------------------
If I had that in my hands right now, I think I'd cut a bunch of strips and hand tack them OVER ALL THE SEAMS, then go back with a machine and sew them down. Contrasting or matching, it would look like it was part of the design. Plus it would make it usable.
This is too pretty to set aside and not use.

Bueniebabe 08-15-2011 09:45 AM

it looks good to me

I think it is very beautiful !

I'm not very knowledgeable about things like this; but could you use a decorative stitch over all the seams for durability? It's a beautiful quilt!

callie 08-15-2011 02:08 PM

I understand. I did the same thing on my first star quilt (i.e. with flying geese). I learned to be very careful cutting - last time I overcut them and squared them up before I started marking and sewing. It's the things we learn on every quilt that make us "grow" as quilters. I love your design, fabric and color - stand back and enjoy the quilt - it's beautiful!

That was my first thought, especially as that seems to be very popular right now.

I've never seen a perfect quilt. I learn with every one I attempt. I have several blocks that I have started and ended up in the trash !!!! I think your quilt is beautiful.

Beautifull mistake!!!!!

Very pretty!

That certainly is an admirable quilt. I understand your pain with the short seems. Been there, done that. When I realize I've got weak areas I fuse a scrap of fabric over the seam in question, and pretend it never happened. If I discover the gaps while, or after, quilting. I get out the needle and thread and repair the spots with a baseball stitch.

Accept your lesson, but make the best of this beauty. Take some hand stitches and put the quilt to use. It's gorgeous.

Still it is a beautiful quilt. DEB

jasming 08-16-2011 03:57 AM

I learned that lesson this year as well.

It also pushed me towards using a rotary cutter for consistent and accurate seems.

It looks good to me. Use and and enjoy it and if seams pull apart, you can maybe outline it with more topstitiching or binding.

You cannot see the seems where it might pull apart, I know they are there, that is what makes me feel like I should not of took the short cut in cutting out the pieces, Thanks

Its a beautiful quilt, lesson learned...thats how we learn, I bet your seams will be perfect on the next one.

unclefreckles 08-16-2011 05:23 AM

Enjoy the beautiful soft colors. Don't be too hard on yourself, as long as we learn from our mistakes, you have not lost. I would try it again. I am usually a bright color person but yours is soft and peaceful. Love it!!!!

Happy Linda 08-16-2011 05:36 AM

So sorry

sailsablazin 08-16-2011 05:47 AM
