MY DALAH QUILT , I LEARNED ON THIS QUILT DO NOT TAKE SHORT CUTS WQHEN CUTTING OUT YOUR PIECES, I DO NOT HAVE MY 1/4 IN SEEM ON ALL PIECES! as for me looking for a short cut on cutting out Looks like I lost this quilt will hang on my quilt rack for show. would never withstand being used. I felt so bad, when i realized i made a mistake.(shortcut) I was ready to scrap the whole thing.

it looks fine to me, what is the problem?

bearisgray 08-15-2011 05:29 AM

What happened while you were cutting?

Did you end up with not enough fabric to make 1/4 inch seams?

mandyk 08-15-2011 05:29 AM

That's too bad. Still is a beautiful quilt, whether used or admired.

lovingmama 08-15-2011 05:36 AM

It is a gorgeous quitlt, even if you think it's just eye candy!
You did a wonderful job, don't be so hard on yourself, we all make mistakes.

rwquilts 08-15-2011 05:48 AM

All that work! So sorry, but it's still a beautiful quilt!

bamamama 08-15-2011 05:50 AM

Live and learn....the quilt is very pretty so try again.

sueisallaboutquilts 08-15-2011 05:59 AM

Amythyst02 08-15-2011 06:03 AM

Lovely quilt to be honest. I think your way too hard on yourself.

vivoaks 08-15-2011 06:06 AM

Looks good to me! Nice quilt!

Deb watkins 08-15-2011 06:07 AM

I love the colors! I have that pattern in my do to box, but your colors are just so soft. Very nice looking quilt.

romanojg 08-15-2011 06:09 AM

Just because all of your seams aren't 1/4 in doesn't mean it won't hold up. Remember that the quilting also determines how a quilt holds up; so quilt it good and enjoy this pretty quilt that you created

erstan947 08-15-2011 06:14 AM

It is beautiful! Don't focus on your mistakes.....focus on it's beauty. I sure don't see any error...I love it just as it is:)

Dianemarie 08-15-2011 06:22 AM

Beautiful ! Remember the quilting helps hold it together also - don't be so hard on yourself - we all make mistakes and then we pass it on so I take it as a learning tool. Next time we would change what we do.

shihtzu 08-15-2011 06:35 AM

THE SEEMS ARE TO SHORT, WHEN i QUILTED IN THE DITCH SOME OF THE SEEMS WERE PULLING APART, HAD TO TOP STITCH ON SOME THEM.

shihtzu 08-15-2011 06:36 AM

EXCATLY, NOT ENOUGH FABRIC TO LEAVE A 1/4 IN SEEM.

shihtzu 08-15-2011 06:37 AM

Thank you

shihtzu 08-15-2011 06:39 AM

shihtzu 08-15-2011 06:44 AM

Thank you, I think the colors just made the quilt, It was so much fun to make this quilt if not for my mistake. enjoy making yours.

charity-crafter 08-15-2011 06:44 AM

It's very pretty anyway. The colors are great. Glad you decided to finish is.

When (notice I say when not if) I'm in the situation, I just make the blocks a smidgen smaller to get the 1/4" seam.

I've had to go back and fix too many in the past that needed first aid after it was washed.

I'm also fond of stategically placed applique to cover spots that have pulled apart-those that even a needle and thread can't fix well.

shihtzu 08-15-2011 06:46 AM

Thank you for the confindence, but as I was quilting in the ditch some of the seems were pulling apart, had to top stitch on some of them. I will enjoy the quilt very much it is a reminding of a trip we took where i first saw this pattern and I told myself that i wanted to make it.

shihtzu 08-15-2011 06:46 AM

Thank you so much.

sewing4kix 08-15-2011 06:47 AM

What am I missing here? It looks great! I had to take my first quilt top apart three times till I got it all right!

shihtzu 08-15-2011 06:48 AM

Thank You, I will get passed this I will always remeber never to take short cuts, Hence "Lesson Learned" I love the quilt.

shihtzu 08-15-2011 06:52 AM

How about trying a zigzag stitch in the ditch? You could make it look like that is how you planned it.

Friendly Quilter 08-15-2011 07:11 AM

Two things make a quilt. Cutting it out right, and making sure you sew it with your 1/4".

nativetexan 08-15-2011 07:15 AM

you can also use it across the foot of the bed like a runner. just for decoration. great quilt though!!

By the picture it looks like she has a quilt. She may have made some mistakes but its still a quilt and a very pretty one at that. If it's not a quilt; then what is it.

Ann912 08-15-2011 07:58 AM

It's a beautiful quilt.

Tweety2911 08-15-2011 07:59 AM

Sorry about your seams. I think this quilt is beautiful and will look gorgeous hanging on the rack! Please display it, it's a beauty:-)

luvnquilt 08-15-2011 08:20 AM

It's gorgeous, I have the pattern to make these blocks but not the skill, so I hope you don't give up. There's nothing wrong with making a wall hanging for yourself :)

Greenheron 08-15-2011 08:29 AM

If you can analyze a mistake and then avoid repetition then you will be successful. Unless we had a mentor sitting by our side when beginning to quilt, we all made beginner's errors.

EasyPeezy 08-15-2011 08:38 AM

Beautiful quilt.
