I'd love to see some works-in-progress. I'll start...
This is going to be a wallhanging for the computer area which faces the kitchen. It will be three more blocks, to make it square. I am using the Strips and Curves technique of making a whole piece of cloth out of 1 1/2" strips and then cutting some of my shapes out of that.
I told a friend I was making a purple, turquoise and lime green quilt and she looked at me and said "You're going to do what?!" https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images/smilies/eek.png

So, come on, show us your works in progress!

Watson

Lovely Watson! I would if I could post pictures.😢

That's fantastic, Watson-- love the colors and the design.

Here's something I've been working on for months, I'm now doing some quilting in the borders which aren't shown in this photo, but it's slow going. The butterfly is thread painted and then I stuffed a couple of inches of wool batting under it and quilted it to the backing. I've added a lot of thread painting to the areas behind the butterfly so that they are more veiled, just a suggestion that there's something there. I'd hoped to have it finished this month, but it's going to be sometime in October before I've got it done.

I'm finally starting to quilt our grandson's two sided quilt: Dr. Who Tartis and Apollo 11. It won't let me add a thumbnail. Love your color combinations Watson.

EmiliasNana- click on quick reply. then look below the box that you are going to type your reply in. There will be two buttons there, one says "post quick reply" and the other says "Go Advanced". Click on the button that says "go advanced" . Then the paperclip icon will show up.

I decided that all my family members needed a new quilt. My youngest DGD's Fancy Foxes is quilted (by me using a friend's longarm. Not perfect in any way, shape or form!!! but I had a lot of fun) and just needs binding. Her birthday is tomorrow and we are hoping to see them for a Canadian Thanksgiving dinner in 10 days. If all goes well, I will give it to her then.

String quilt for DD and SIL. Top is finished but I won't attempt to quilt this one myself. Just too big!!

Oldest DGD's birthday is in January. She is a tween and I took inspiration from Emeliasnana's lovely 'Beautiful' quilt for her DGD. Hailey has had a lot of input on this and I think she really appreciated my asking for her assistance. The top two rows (under the pillows) are log cabin diamonds. The row of stars will actually be at foot end--just there to remind me of width. All scraps except for her name and the constant background.

Great projects and a great question. Looks like everyone has some beautiful and creative ideas under the needle.

Here is my little project. Right now, only the "b" and the first "o" done because of interruptions. I still need to make the last "o". It has monster eyes so I'll add the colored ones on the table.

Middle picture will become a bag for halloween hunt for DGSon.

Last picture will be dino pillow cases. The bones and white are glow in the dark.

Everything looks great, my quilting friends! This is what I am working on. It's a quilt top in the Round Robin exchange. I need to put another three sides of the zig zag on it, and my part will be done.

You guys are inspiring me to get sewing this weekend. I've been prepping to present on Modern quilts to my guild tomorrow and have been strictly Modern since March. Here is one "What if Frank L. Wright didn't have rulers?' it's hanging sideways.Attachment 628258

I'm working on a quilt for my niece's wedding next spring. It's called Compelling Women by Jill Shaulis. Here are 23 of the 30 blocks needed for the body of the quilt. There will be sashing and two borders when it's finished at 57' x 66".

Everyone has such beautiful works in progress!

I am doing a Double Slice quilt for my mom’s friend. I love the fabric so much I almost want to keep it. ☺️ I pieced the back from trimmings on two other quilts. It’s my first pieced backing and I like the way it looks.

https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images/smilies/smile.png Watson, that is beautiful! I am a fan of those colors, too. I am interested in your technique. If you have a tutorial that you can share, I would love to try it!

Thanks for posting this thread....this will be fun to follow!

Watson 10-01-2020 02:00 AM

copycat...the technique is from Strips and Curves by Louisa Smith. There are a number of videos and, if you're a member of The Quilt Show, the author is on there a couple of times.
Personally, I didn't find the book helpful and wouldn't suggest it unless you can get it cheap or are a draftsperson, because a lot of it is explaining how to draft your own templates and was way above my head. You could just draw up your own templates, IMO. I did and then had them cut out of acrylic. It does have some beautiful pictures in it of finished quilts.
If you read what you can on the 'net you will figure out the process of using the templates on the fabric "strata".
If you have any specific questions, PM me.
Watson

Great interpretation! Love how you gave her input and the triangle geese? you used as one of the fill in borders. Great job Grandma.

I have been working on a Hunter Star done in Caribbean Colors for DH. He has a dream to live in the islands. The quilt would be a wall hanging if that dream ever comes true.

I am working on the quilting of a Mystery Quilt from "Laundry Basket Quilts". Note to self; don't quilt a motif that doesn't come naturally to me. Kinda went down the rabbit hole on FMQ this one!

SusieQOH 10-01-2020 07:54 AM

Wow, everyone!
This is going to be a banner year for quilts made I think :)

Jingle 10-01-2020 12:08 PM

I am just starting another donation quilt #33 for this year. Just picked out the colors and cut 7-1/2" yesterday. Not working on it today. We went shopping today and I am lazy. I expend lots of energy shopping. I will get back to it tomorrow.

My camera won't turn on and not good at posting pictures from my phone.

All of the above pictures a re gorgeous, such great color choices.

So many fabulous, creative projects in the works!

I had an 8" block that I liked a lot but wasn't sure what to do with it, until I became inspired by the ongoing Round Robin and decided to make it into my own round robin. I thought I'd be much further by now but this is a lot harder than it seemed it'd be. lol

Here's where I'm at so far:

It looks great, gee vee! Hope you'll try the next Round Robin.

I got fascinated with the Dresden plate pattern. From my fabrics I came up with this design but in the middle of doing the appliqué I stopped liking it, so off it goes to my UFO bin. Hopefully just for a while.

These are such beautiful quilts. So inspiring and breath taking. Thank you all for sharing.

I'm new to quilting and am glad I found this forum. I've learned so much from all of you. I've only made a few quilts in the last few years but have been reading a lot lately with the hopes of making a bunch of quilts this winter.

When I saw this bright and happy monster fabric last year in a scrap bin at a creative reuse store, it immediately made me think of my newly adopted dogs who I call "my monsters." Yesterday I finally turned it into a small quilt by adding borders, fleece backing and binding. I made it to cover one of their dog beds to keep the bed cleaner.

(I can't figure out how to attach this as a thumbnail photo. I'll keep reading and try to figure it out.)

I finished up the final border of my National Quilt Museum sew along quilt, shown.
I also managed to get bindings on 3 baby quilts today. I have a number of things stacked up that need attention and since I have to have surgery on my elbow on the 14 th I’m trying to finish up as many projects as I can
indont know if I’m ( done ) with the quilt museum quilt- I might make it bigger ( it’s 44” square right now)

Halloween panel

1 Attachment(s)
I made this Halloween table topper. I don't usually decorate specifically for Halloween, but I couldn't resist this panel when I saw it. Super easy project - just added batting/backing and straight line quilted from the bright spot in the center to the ends.

granky 10-04-2020 11:41 AM

Bonnie...I wouldn't have been able to resist that panel either! Super cute!

ckcowl 10-04-2020 12:49 PM

I love that Halloween panel too. Great quilting plan.
