Good job...as a mother of 3 sons I feel qualified to say that some lucky boy somewhere is getting a great quilt.

There is a lucky boy out there. He will just love it.

What a nice memory you gave me. I can remember sitting in bed at night looking out at the lightning.

That is a cool quilt for a boy.

Love the quilt. What size did you make it? Can we copy it? Our group makes a large number of community quilts and I've been looking for something for the older guys. This would be a good option.

Nice work. I'd be happy too with the results you have shown. Congrats!

I think you did a fantastic job with the pattern! I don't see why any boy wouldn't love to have it. :)

I'd be flattered if you wish to make one like it. I'll try to upload the drawing I used to plan it. It uses offset rows and triangles to get the angles right. In fact, I'd never tried corner triangles before and got them all messed up. I had them going from the middle of one side to the middle of the other side of the block - but that's for the UNfinished block. The triangle has to be slightly bigger to account for the seam allowance. I hope I'm expressing that well. In other words, the way I did it first would have been fine if there were no such thing as seam allowances. But due to the seam, the triangle had to be about 1/4 to 3/8 inch larger so the points would meet on the seam allowance. The size is 30 by 42, plus the border.

Looking at the design now, I just realized that I didn't need to have the rows offset. It only shifts which blocks have half square triangles and which ones have corner triangles.

You quilters are so ingenious, you never stop amazing me. Who would have thought something so simple could have such an impact. You are very sweet to donate your quilts to a good cause.
