My mother had planted a lilac bush to cover the outhouse and when it was in full bloom she would cut a bunch of it and it would be used in the church and the whole church would smell like them

What a beautiful quilt!! I myself went to high school in Post Falls, ID, maybe 15 or 20 miles from Spokane, WA. (many years ago, :)) But, yes, I remember my mothers lilac bush in our front yard. I can still remember the sweet smell when it was in bloom. Your quilt is certainly a reminder of that smell. They are both delicious!

I can tell you the sweet smell of lilacs in bloom is so pretty. My grandmother had lilac bushes planted around her patio and it was my favorite place to sit while in bloom..just read a book in a patio chair..what lovely memories. When I received this quilt I immediately thought of that and it gave me sweet memories. This is a lovely quilt. I quilted charisma curls in all the purple areas and quilted a wreath in the white centers...it just seems so sweet and pretty. I used Hobbs polydown batting. I quilted this freehand on my INNOVA. I did use a chalk pencil to make a circle in the center of each block for a point of reference. It washed out without any problems. Thanks for looking. |
Your work is amazing!

Beautiful - quilt and quilting. We miss the lilacs we had in StL. They don't grow here (TX) and the crepe myrtles (lilac of the south) don't have a scent.
|
Love it very nice
