"Little sister" - red, blue, yellow, green top
1 Attachment(s)
I've been trying to do some easy sewing during the Olympics as I've had the different athletic events on a laptop by the sewing machine, watching live. (We are only 3 hours from Sochi time, so it is very possible--)
As I was cleaning up some scraps in my room, I noticed the leftover blocks with sashing strips from this top http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...p-t238407.html I had previously thought I would make another large one, but didn't really want to do more searching for more squares in those colors-- So, I just uncovered these and came to my EQ program and discovered I had plenty for a twin sized quilt (actually it is 71"x 94"--so a large twin). I think of it as "little sister" to that other one. I suppose some might have called it a UFO--but really I had just cut too many squares for the larger one. So, "UFO" or "leftovers"...doesn't matter what the squares were called--this is what they became: |

Very very nice.
|
Absolutely love it! How do you plan to quilt it? I noticed in your previous post that you said to use 5" squares, 1.5" sashing & corner stones. Are those finished sizes or the sizes to cut?
|
lots of happy colours
|
You just amaze me! You are so prolific and they are all so pretty!

And in response to "you're so fast" reply...All the squares were already cut! I really only had to cut some more sashings, (and probably fewer than half the squares needed sashings) sew them on, and then connect the strips. It did take longer than some others because working on point required me to take it all downstairs to the basement, lay out the squares on the floor, pin them together and then come back and sew them together. But it was the sashing with cornerstones that took the most time. I won't do that again right away--they are small cornerstones and when I had to change a few because I repeated myself too often, it was a pain! |
Great job!

Very impressive -- and with just scraps? This should be hung on a wall with the room decorated around it!
|
Just beautiful. The jewel tones just pop.
|
I think your "leftovers" are referred to as "orphan blocks". You made a beautiful "little sister" with them!
