Does a partial seam involve " unstitching"? Or using a seam ripper and re-sewing?

I am doing a bunch of these types of blocks but with strips of squares instead of strips of... strips.

I tried to explain it but maybe a picture would be better. :)

Press all the seams towards the side pieces

I'm making them for the border on my Giant Dahlia quilt that I haven't worked on in a year. ;) I originally sewed the three strips together for a different design and then changed my mind. I am very limited on this fabric so to not waste or undo the strips, I used them with a partial seam.

You would have to sew the first set of rails/logs onto the center within 1/4" of the end of the center, then sew the other rails/logs on going counter-clockwise and then finish sewing on the first set of rails/logs.

You do some beautiful work. I love all of your quilts! Especially your avatar.

Thank you very much. The avatar quilt is done except for the borders. I got the bias vines cut out and layed it on and just not sure if I like that shape in person so, it's waiting and simmering while I work on something else.

I used an 1.5x5 inch strips. But they didn't turn out the same as your pic. I think 2.5 inch strips were probably what she used. Mine looked too skinny in comparison

I think I just saw this in a quilter's magazine. let me check.

Here we go, in Scrap-Basket Surprises (The Patchwork Place) 18 quilts from 2 1/2" strips by Kim Brackett. On page 51 it is called Feed Sacks. It doesn't say what the pattern is called, but it is the same I think.
