Does a partial seam involve " unstitching"? Or using a seam ripper and re-sewing?

I am doing a bunch of these types of blocks but with strips of squares instead of strips of... strips.

I'm making them for the border on my Giant Dahlia quilt that I haven't worked on in a year. ;) I originally sewed the three strips together for a different design and then changed my mind. I am very limited on this fabric so to not waste or undo the strips, I used them with a partial seam.

Thank you very much. The avatar quilt is done except for the borders. I got the bias vines cut out and layed it on and just not sure if I like that shape in person so, it's waiting and simmering while I work on something else.
