Log Cabin! First time :-)

Boy talk about time consuming, but I like it. Not sure which pattern I like more.

DebraK 07-09-2012 06:02 AM

Well, at least you've narrowed it down to two. There are so many layouts to boggle the mind ;-) Your blocks look clean and crisp.

debcavan 07-09-2012 06:05 AM

Which goes with the room that is going to be in best. Or are you like me, there is no room. They are all pretty. I wouldn't be able to decide

QuiltnNan 07-09-2012 06:08 AM

both are great, but i prefer the mixed up ones.

DogHouseMom 07-09-2012 06:09 AM

Is this for a table runner, or will there be more blocks for a larger piece?

If a table runner I kinda like the 2nd one only slightly better than the first. Not sure why.

If it is for a larger piece and more blocks will come, you might want to wait until you've got more blocks to sample other layouts - there are SOOO many possibilities with Log Cabin!!

Nice blocks!!

chips88 07-09-2012 06:15 AM

nice blocks. like the mixed up in the red.

Tweety2911 07-09-2012 06:40 AM

Beautiful either way! Nice work!

jillnjo 07-09-2012 06:47 AM

One thing about your blocks is that you can do lots more of them and try several different layouts and get a larger view of how it will look and then choose. I love log cabin and all the possibilities there are!

Nanaof4 07-09-2012 06:51 AM

I love your blocks, the fabric is beautiful. I think I like #2 a little better than #1, I don't think you can miss with a log cabin block.

Kitsie 07-09-2012 08:02 AM

Beautiful work!! (Why do we always call it "work"!) I like the second one!

lfstamper 07-09-2012 08:07 AM

Great precision workmanship. Any layout is gorgeous.

4EVERquilt 07-09-2012 10:22 AM

Your log cabin blocks are beautiful!!

Grandma Peg 07-09-2012 11:03 AM

Like the first layout. Very pretty fabrics.

Sewfine 07-09-2012 11:49 AM

I like them all. I guess it depends on how big it will be.

QuiltE 07-09-2012 11:56 AM

And only about a 100 more possible layouts to go!
(of course, dependent on the size you are planning.)

HAVE FUN!!!

alfosa421 07-09-2012 01:18 PM

Love the last layout-love the white on the outside too

Diane007 07-09-2012 01:37 PM

looking square to me

hopetoquilt 07-10-2012 02:15 AM

I love the pattern and the way you arranged the fabrics. I don't recall ever seeing just 2 fabrics used for the each block but I love how it came out. I just made the log cabin blocks with my DSIL for her quilt and it is very laborious.

orangeroom 07-10-2012 02:44 AM

I, too, like the second better. However, you may want to wait to sew them together until you have more blocks done. Unless it's going to be a table runner. Love log cabin. Saw one on this board once where it was only two colors and it started as a swirl in the middle and continued out. (One of the middle four was reversed). Log cabin quilts are full of variety just waiting to happen!!! Nice job!

Phannie1 07-10-2012 02:52 AM

How do you want to quilt it? I like the first if I was going to do a madalion in the white space if not I like the other. I want to do one, soon. Beautiful.

sew_Tracy 07-10-2012 03:10 AM

Wait till you have more blocks for more play! That said, I have about 12 log cabin blocks I started with the QAYG method and in the end, I really hated all of them so they are stuffed in a drawer. Yours are nice and neat.

BSKTLOFR-QUILTER 07-10-2012 04:37 AM

Very nice work. I can't wait to see the finished project. Welcome to the wonderful world of quilting.

cjackaitlin 07-10-2012 04:38 AM

Love the blocks, it's hard to choose, I'd wait until I had more blocks done to play with. They are lovely.

nunnyJo 07-10-2012 05:20 AM

you've done a great job, post when finished

callen 07-11-2012 05:03 AM

Very nice blocks. I like the traditional design #1, especially in the burgundy. They are all nice though.

joyce888 07-11-2012 05:08 AM

Very pretty blocks.

Blinkokr 07-11-2012 05:11 AM

I like both, great job and thank you for sharing. Make one of each.
Have a Blessed day
Ellen

jamsbuying 07-11-2012 06:18 AM

Love your blocks....

Happy Linda 07-11-2012 06:27 AM

Great job. I like them both.

IzzysGrammie 07-11-2012 06:39 AM

Your blocks are so nice! I like the second group best I think... where the colors are broken up by the white. I think that will really set your hard work off!! Wonderful job!

solstice3 07-11-2012 06:50 AM

both are gret I couldn't pick unless i saw more laid out

fmhall2 07-11-2012 06:52 AM

I'd combine them all into one quilt. Love them all.

Pamela Alsbury 07-11-2012 06:58 AM

Alot of you are saying wait til I get more blocks. I think thats just what I'm gonna do. I don't have as much time to work on it now that I don't have my sewing room and my daughter and a 2 year old grandson staying with us but I sew on it when time allows. I am gonna just take my time and see what happends. Thank you for all your comments and taking the time to advise it is much appreciated.

IdahoSandy 07-11-2012 07:41 AM

I like the last three best because it makes them more interesting.

linmid 07-11-2012 10:02 AM

Decisions, decisions - both ways are very nice.

matraina 07-11-2012 12:43 PM

They are both beautiful. I couldn't make up my mind either.

rrhaigh 07-11-2012 01:14 PM

Beautiful blocks. So many possibilities! I always have a hard time deciding how to arrange blocks. Both ways are nice, but I think I like them mixed up.

Latrinka 07-11-2012 03:35 PM

Very pretty blocks! Decisions, decisions!

Mariposa 07-11-2012 03:37 PM

Lovely blocks! And so many layout options!! Have fun!

wishfulthinking 07-11-2012 04:00 PM

Great job! I prefer the first layout.
