I have had these green and neutral noodles for a while now and knew that I wanted to use them for a log cabin lap quilt for out living room. I had to go and buy a few more greens and neautrals today b/c I did not want to duplicate the same material in the same square. It measures 30X59.5". It is top only. Will work on completing it later this week.
Kyia not a great angle, will post when complete right side left side |

Oh my gosh Kyia, first, the colours are so pretty, and second, i have never seen a log cabin done with the little strips you have added too, it's absolutely gorgeous! :)
|
I love it and I've never seen the small strips used either. Is that your idea? It's cool!
|
those are lovely :)
|
Thank you all for the compliments. Yes the small strips are my idea. was going to make a gult just using the thin strips which are 1 1/4 inches but I thought it would take too long and use up all my strips before being the size I wanted so I thought I would mix it up a little bit.

Well, it is unanimous---everyone loves you wide and narrow strips---and so do I!!! I think you are on to something here. A terrific log cabin variation. This is going to be a stunning quilt. Cannot wait to see it finished.

Wow--that's a new way to make a log cabin! Just look at all those strips! It's going to be beautiful. The colors are very calming.

Wow......your log cabin squares are really fascinating~ 53 pieces of fabric in one square is amazing. Will be excited to see when you post the final picture. Thanks for sharing.
|
Looks awesome! It's already been said, but I love the way the thinner strips look too!! Great idea!!
|
kyia that looks really good. Like photo frames, or something beautiful enough to be hung on the wall instead of sat on upon the couch. ;) Your work is as beautiful as it is precise!
|
Thank you all for the kind words. I am liking the look also of the different size strips. I am going to make some log cabin table runnerwith the scraps. I saw one on this site that I liked and will see if I can figure it out at another time.
Thanks again! Kyia |

Ohh, I like this!!!! Not the usual Log Cabin, very, very pretty.
LongArm Hat on now: This quilt has lots of 'open' area to do something spectacular!!! Way to go!!!! |
Love it.

Totally awesome!!! Can't wait to see a picture of this one finished!!!
|
Oh my that is so special looks great!
|
Wow! What a beautiful throw that will make. Am I seeing it correctly? Two blocks and that's the entire quilt? SWEET!!
My log cabin blocks are often a bit "wonky" so I paper piece them! Yours is so straight and pretty! Lovely! PS... What a great use of a pool table!!! |
I love the block and I love your creativity.

I don't think my husband likes too much that I use the pool table but as long as I don't put anything heavy it's ok. I will soon be moving all my quilting stuff upstairs including my king size hand quilting frame. It will be even tighter than it is in the family room. Kyia |
That's a beautiful log cabin pattern. I like the variation in widths of your strips. Also a favorite color combination of mine.

Very nice! I like what you did with the different widths of fabric. It adds a whole new dimension to the block. I want to make a log cabin Christmas tree table runner for the holidays. Varied widths with lights and darks will make a great tree. thanks for sharing.
