Lone Star Log Cabin

I have wanted to make this one for a long time and have finally done it. It is quite large - about 104 by 90 and I pieced and quilted it on my domestic machine. It provided me with many "firsts", which I really enjoyed. The top is made from various cottons, the batting is wool and the backing is flannel. (We live in Canada, eh.) Due to some problems, I did start to call it the "evil one" for a while but I am very happy with the way it turned out.

Lovely quilt and toasty for winter!

That quilt is absolutely gorgeous! The quilting is beautiful as well. I really like the feathers in the light log areas.

Beautiful, I love the way the pillow tucks look. Did you go by a pattern or just make it up?

suern3 09-04-2018 02:12 PM

Perfectly beautiful, colors, design and quilting! I love quilting with the wool batting, don't you?

Kathy T. 09-04-2018 02:15 PM

That's a stunning quilt. Well done!

OleaBlossom 09-04-2018 02:16 PM

Wow, it's gorgeous! I kinda love that something you called "the evil one" is so pretty ;P

Did you do something special to get the pattern to look so purposefully rectangular where you cover the pillows, or does the fold naturally fall exactly at the edge of your first row of log cabins?

Doggramma 09-04-2018 02:21 PM

That's impressive! It's a wonderful quilt

Absolutely beautiful! I am very impressed with you quilting it on your domestic machine. I used to be able to do that to but it's been so long that I just can't seem to do it with a big quilt!

You took the words right out of my mouth. How did you ever quilt such a large, beautiful quilt on a DMS? Fantastic.

Innov8R 09-05-2018 05:10 AM

Kudos on taking on such a large project on your DSM. It turned out AWESOME!

Jane Quilter 09-05-2018 05:12 AM
