This quilt was made from scraps of material I had in my scrap tub, and pieces of material I received from others, I saw a picture of this quilt my friend made and used the idea and some of the color choices for the corners and borders, then quilted it with gold thread.

This is just jaw-dropping gorgeous!!! Are the diamonds paper-pieced? What are the dimensions of your quilt, it is simply a work of art.

WOW! pretty! my scraps could never arrange themselves into anything as nice!

d.rickman 03-12-2011 10:37 PM

I made this for a queen size bed, and figured out and drew up the diamond pieces, so you could say it was paper pieced, all the material had to be at least 3 - 4" in length and 2" wide to work, tried to match all the colors with similar colors, In each diamond, the pieces were placed with the point in one direction, then the next piece sewn with the point in the opposite direction - tried not to use the same material twice, took a long time to gather enough material to make it work, thanks to my good sewing friends donations. In the middle I had what looked like a small volcano, but it disappeared once I quilted it.
Lone Star was a challenge and I was very frustrated.

I see lots I would change - if I were to do it over.

Thanks for all your positive thoughts, I appreciate that

anyone interested in making this quilt may buy U.L.S.2 by Karen Stone. It has all the paper foundations needed for a 62x62 quilt. I paid $12.00 total for the pattern and made this exact quilt using enormous amounts of scrap, the pattern calls for 600 different fabrics, but I used less and it is still a beautiful quilt.
