Lone Star

This is the first (and only) quilt I had made until recently. I started it in 1992 and it took me nearly 7 years to complete the hand-quilting on it. I decided that I wanted to make a quilt, bought a book and some fabric and made the top. A neighbor was an experienced quilter and helped me place the designs on the borders, told me where to start and moved away. The rest I had to figure out myself! If the pics were better (sorry) you could see how uneven and big the stitches in the diamonds are where I first started (from the center outwards). Fortunately, by the time I completed the borders and wreaths, I was much better. It is now on the bed it was made for, which is in our guest room. I swore I would never make another quilt and didn't until I found out that I could make the tops and send them out to be machine quilted! :)

I love lone stars. Your colors are great. I can't imagine the time you put in to do the quilting. I like your choice of motifs but yes there are longarmers to do that part.

That is stunning. Beautiful job.

Beautiful lone star quilt. You did a great job. Keep up the good work. Don't be discouraged. You started with a somewhat difficult pattern.
