Long time coming

Years ago I thought I would finally have the time to do some quilting but life continued to get in the way. I had bought some great material and apparently saw a quilt I wanted to do because I cut it all up into triangles. Gave them to my daughter, she never did anything with them, she came to live with me and brought the triangles. So, this is what I finally made with some of them... I have lots more. :-( It took me a few months to figure out how to place them. I wish I had known back then the easy way of working with triangles. This was a *itch. :-) It's also tied - can't seem to get myself to try machine quilting. This is my 12th quilt in 2 years. It's actually equal although the picture shows the bottom a bit smaller.

Pretty quilt!

tessagin 03-31-2014 05:57 AM

you did a great job. I believe the only reason it looks more narrow at the bottom is because it just is falling/flares to the back. Love the pattern.

Very nice quilt, like the arrangement of the blocks. Like like an 8!

Very impressive use of HSTs. Love the quilt!!!

dunster 03-31-2014 10:43 AM

Wonderful setting, beautiful fabrics. You did an impressive job of sewing the HSTs together, if you started with triangles - and next time you know how to make them the easier way.

Wow!! Thank you all so much. I'm happy with the way it turned out but it was a journey getting there. :-) Here is more of the same material that I had put together and wasn't that keen on. What a difference. :-) Love the material, just don't like HST's. :-(

GailG 03-31-2014 11:47 AM

Your quilts are great. I'm intrigued. What is the easy way to work with HSTs?

Jackie Spencer 03-31-2014 04:54 PM

Put two 5" squares right sides together. Draw a line from one corner to the opposite. Sew a scant 1/4" on each side of the line. Cut on the line. Press. Voila - two HST in a square. No maneuvering on the bias. :-)

If you want smaller squares you can sew the 5" squares all the way around and cut from corner to corner. Smaller squares but HST all the same. :-) I learn from Jenny Doan. LOL

Oh, the rest that I made are here: http://www.pinterest.com/marcycn/qui...made-by-marcy/
