We would all like to see our members who do longarm quilting (close-up please) with all the particulars. It would be nice to see all of your examples on one thread. Thanks

do you use a program or a panto?

TammyM 07-30-2010 05:49 AM

I use a panto. My machine is hand guided, no computer.

feline fanatic 07-30-2010 05:49 AM

Thanks for starting this thread. As a brand new longarmer I love to see this stuff and what people are doing. I have not yet done a quilt, I still have my practice sandwich on. Only got the machine 3 weeks ago but it has been too hot to practice and now that the heat wave has broke I have been in piecing mode getting a top ready to throw on there.

Bobbielinks 07-30-2010 06:05 AM

I have been trying all morning (or so it seems) to post a picture of a customer's quilt that I quilted this week. I'm on dial up and it takes sooooooo long that my computer kicks out before the picture gets posted. I quilt on a hand guilded Gammill Classic - no stitch regulator, no computer, no bells nor whistles. Just me and my trigger finger. Most of my customers request custom or heirloom quilting but I do like to quilt a pantograph pattern every so often. I invite you to look at photos of quilts I have quilted on my webshots at http:/community.webshots.com/user/barbara4811.

Bobbielinks 07-30-2010 06:07 AM

Very nice!!

Very Pretty! Did you stitch the plume freehanded?

BZ quilting 07-30-2010 07:06 AM

I will try to post a picture after I get home from work

TammyM 07-30-2010 07:10 AM

No, that is a panto called Royal Plume. I just love the way it quilts out. It is my most requested panto right now.

Can I ask what everyone charges?? Is that allowed? So far, I haven't seen one example I didn't like - thank you soooooo much for sharing your talents.

Oh it's sooooo hard to just choose 3 quilts to show! My clients sew such beautiful tops and I have the honor of finishing them. I would love to show you all of them. It's like having a revolving art exhibit right here in my workroom. I feel blessed and lucky to be able to get paid for work that I truly love.

These 3 client quilts were all custom quilted with hand guided quilting, not pantos or computerized. My feeling is that the quilting needs to go with the quilt to make a nicely balanced finished product. I offer different quilting options and my client chooses which she wants on her quilt. It's a collaborative process.

More photographs and my prices are on my website www.northstarqualityquilting.com.

I'm enjoying all the quilting. Keep it up. I'm working on a quilt for my son that I think I'll be sending out to be quilted as it will be queen size. I've done all my own quilting on my DSM, but this quilt is special and I want it to be quilted very nicely.

This log cabin quilting is so very beautiful and creative. I am beginning to think I will never get the hang of quilting. I am all thumbs with FMQ, and even stencil quilting is somehow unmanageable for me.

Ritzquilts 07-31-2010 07:25 AM

Very Nice, thanks for the close ups

Here are a couple I did ..I seem to like the freemotion better than anything. The 1st two are on an Eleanor Burn's Egg Money quilt and the last looks like wrapped candies (I have THAT on my quilting Bucket list!)
