What a blessing to have such a beautiful quilt!!! My mother had two quilts that my grandmother, her mother made. Unfortunately they disappeared. I would have loved to have one of my grandmothers quilts. She passed away when my mother was 4 months pregnant with me. I never knew her but I did inherit a large picture of her and my grandfather that hangs in my family room.

oh wow, what an absolute treasure! Hopefully there is a label on it so future generations know the history of the quilt.

I have mine in an Amish quilt display cabinet, sitting in my living room where there's not direct sun light that would fade them.
My Mom made each of us (7) childern a butter fly quilt, so they are from the mid 1940's. Mine and my sister just older than I have
given ours to 2 of my grand daughters. My sister doesn't have childern. But I am the care giver for the quilts until the girls are established in their homes.

The back of your quilt appears to be a kit that came out about then. It would be the size of a sheet with the design stamped on it. I did one at that time that had a peacock in the center. It came with different designs. My 6 yr son was in the hospital and I did the embrodiery while sitting by his bed.
Love it Love it

This is my kind of quilt for the colors, the embroidery and the vintage look of it. Treasure it always.

My sister displayed an old quilt above the head of her bed. She had a long shelf with a hanging bar under the shelf, but a decorative curtain/drapery rod would work just as well. Just an idea. It is so fun to read postings like yours--having been married in 1955, I don't think of the 50's as old, but I know it is. Just time is so different depending on where one is (age-wise) when viewing it! thanks for sharing. It is a beautiful quilt.
