Look what else I found at Harbor Freight

I went to my local Harbor Freight to get rotary blades and while looking for them ran across this. Check out the price!! Looks just like the small quilting one that cost $7.00
Don't know why my picture did not show up, I will try again

I bought one of those about a year ago. Love it, especially for y smaller rulers.

QuiltnNan 11-09-2011 06:38 PM

great tool and great price, too. thanks for sharing

DonnaB 11-09-2011 06:57 PM

Goes to show you anything quilting related at a quilt store is about 4 times as much...I think the little suction cups like these cost around $8.00 in a quilt store. You can also get the larger one, great for your 6 x 24 ruler, at a hardware store for 1/4 of the quilt store costs.

Very cool find. Congrats

GGinMcKinney 11-09-2011 07:05 PM

Cool! Need to make a trip to Harbour Freight! Thanks for sharing your find.

lynnsim 11-09-2011 07:46 PM

Guess I better get back to Harbor Freight!

joysewer 11-09-2011 08:07 PM

You can also buy the magnetic bowls at Harbor Freight. I bought one there to keep my clips in that I use instead of pins when stitching my binding. They have two sizes and they are much cheaper than at the quilt stores.

Nice find. Thank you for sharing.

jeanharville 11-09-2011 08:20 PM

I love Harbor Freight. Thanks for sharing your find with us.

Don't forget that there are 20% off c/o's in their ads all the time.

OK, a senior moment - what are "c/o's"....thanks

mighty 11-09-2011 09:16 PM

Wow cool, thanks for the heads up.

Harbor is a great place. I found a telescoping magnetic "picker upper" there for a very small price. It is much better than the pricey kind found in LQSs and I think it is stronger, too. If you're like me and have the dropsies, then this is a wonderful tool to pick up pins off the floor before you step on them with bare feet...

I love Harbor Freight - the men just look at us with that look of "what are you doing in our store" as we are talking about "oh, that is what I'm looking for to hold rulers,or the fish filet gloves are great for fmq" we just look at them and grin - if they only knew

hyper violet 11-10-2011 05:59 AM

I've never been to a Harbor Freight store even thou there's one in a near by town. I think I feel a shopping trip coming on...LOL!

starlite 11-10-2011 07:02 AM

Do you think quilt stores know we are hooked and will buy just about anything quilt related?? Just a thought.

runninL8 11-10-2011 07:17 AM

Thanks for the heads-up. They have lots of coupons in magazines, etc. that have a 20% off coupon. Wonder if that would apply to this?

mucky 11-10-2011 07:48 AM

Sorry I'm so dense but what do you use it for?

pojo 11-10-2011 07:54 AM

Did you try it yet.

Caroline S 11-10-2011 08:07 AM

Harbor Freight is one of the places I need to visit. I will add the suction cup thingys to my shopping list.

kwilter 11-10-2011 08:10 AM

I have one of these, too, and find it wonderful to keep my larger rulers under control when I'm cutting, marking or squaring up. ☺☺☺

Jingle 11-10-2011 03:00 PM

Great find and price. I need to go.

EmbQuilt 11-10-2011 03:05 PM

I see myself making another trip to harbor freight soon. Last time I went was for measuring tapes cuz the ones I got at the dollar store didn't work well for the snap bags.

Be sure to look for the carpet cutter blades that fit in the 45mm rotatry cutter---they are $1.99 a pack with 2 blades in them.

They suction to your smaller rulers to help you hold them in place while cutting

butterjoy 11-10-2011 03:39 PM

What is it used for?

cmagee84 11-10-2011 03:45 PM

Great detective work! Thanks for sharing your great idea!

plainpat 11-10-2011 03:53 PM

I went to HF to buy the cutter blades, but they don't sell the 60 size. Bought 2 of these ruler holders & use them often.

Dottie Bug 11-10-2011 08:56 PM

going to the one here tomorrow ,will have to look for them . Dottie Bug

crafty_linda_b 11-10-2011 09:02 PM

OH Phewy..wish I had seen this earlier today..We went to HF and I didn't find anything...they were out of the blades...we were 125 miles from home...so would have been nice if I had found something to buy..DH did get a pack of gloves so it wasn't a total waste of time..we were down there for a DR appt...didn't want you to think we drove 125 miles just to go to HF *L* crafty_linda_b

jaciqltznok 11-10-2011 09:31 PM

I got one of those from a Secret pal one month...it is amzing..better than the quilt shop one!

coloradosky 11-11-2011 12:14 AM

Love that store! Thanks for the post. I need one of these.

fidgety 11-11-2011 12:34 AM

I am going to have to make a trip to harbor frieght sometime soon and shop.. Maybe I will take my DH with me too. lol..

dd55 11-11-2011 05:27 AM

i bought that one for $2.99 and the larger two clamp for $7.99 at hf last weekend. love the large one, have not used the smaller one. hf prices are better than bb&b ($12.99) and the gypsy gripper ($19.99) for the larger one.

joyce888 11-11-2011 07:52 PM

I bought one also. I love going to Harbor Freight searching for quilting tools.
