It is just beautiful, and to dye all of those fabrics--wow. Truly a work of art.

Your hand dyes fabrics are lovely and your Sun and Moon Quilt is absolutely stunning! WOW!
|
What did you use as dyes? Your colors seem so vivid that they look as if you used inks.
|
Very talented work!

How different the fabric colors look when they are home dyed. They are beautiful and I love your concept of the moon. Beautiful work!

I use Procion dyes. They are a cold water dye for dyeing cellulose (plant fibers - cotton, bamboo, linen). The amt of dye powder you use is based on the weight of the fabric and how intense of a hue you want, the "Depth of Shade." The sun was a Depth of Shade was 4% - which is nearly the max for all colors but black, and the moon fabrics were made with a combination of Turquoise/Yellow/Black/Red, put on in 2 dyebaths. I have toyed with the idea of making a tutorial. It is really quite easy to do. Thanks for the feedback. |
