My Daughter just got back and she brought me the stack of squares. They are a heavy weight of fabric like bag or aprons are made from. I am not sure what to make with these. Any suggestions????

MartiMorga 04-24-2013 11:42 AM

Oh what a nice selection of material. Looks like a Hawaiian quilt or throw to me. Would look good on my sofa in the sun room!

dogsgod 04-24-2013 11:43 AM

A bag or an apron!

quiltstringz 04-24-2013 11:48 AM

How about a bag for each of you! You can of course also use it to make a throw, but wouldn't it be nice if you could also give her something to remind her of her trip

pumpkinpatchquilter 04-24-2013 11:50 AM

Beautiful!!

javin22 04-24-2013 12:41 PM

I thought about making a bag for each of us. She said what ever I decide to do, to make her the same with it. There is plenty...

fivepaws 04-24-2013 01:10 PM

Whoa, lucky you. They are gorgeous!!

busy fingers 04-24-2013 01:48 PM

Firstly you would stoke and love them and then whatever you make will be fabulous with those vibrant colours.

rootyr 04-24-2013 02:17 PM

I see a beautiful tote or bag!!

QuiltnNan 04-24-2013 02:27 PM

yummy fabrics

4EVERquilt 04-24-2013 03:23 PM

Oh!! I'm so jealous, I love Hawaiian fabric. there are so many options to make with this fabric. I would put it into a throw quilt.

QUILTNMO 04-24-2013 03:29 PM

a nice bag they are pretty!!!

Diane007 04-24-2013 03:41 PM

yep some thing that they can see when they come for a visit other wise you won't get any more :)

coachmatthewsvhs 04-24-2013 04:24 PM

Lucky you..... is she going back? May I adopt her??

travelingquilter 04-24-2013 06:51 PM

MAKE A QUILT WITH RECTANGULAR pieces......you can1- stagger each row, 2-add a plain color or black every other one. just tie it, like for a picnic, camping, etc.

javin22 04-24-2013 07:12 PM

That is an idea that I didn't think of. Nice and heavy for a picnic quilt might be the ticket.

I would cut some of the squares into triangles, and make a nine patch with the triangles in all four corners. Then make a couple of totes, if you are a quilter, you can use a solid color out of your stash for the straps. The fabric she brought back to you is very bright and beautiful. I hope you will show the pictures when you finish, whatever you decide to make.

DOTTYMO 04-25-2013 01:23 AM

How about a selection of items for the kitchen. Holders , mug rugs . Table runner, tea cosy, it will be so bright and cheerful .

wolph33 04-25-2013 03:53 AM

oh-that will be bright and beautiful-show us what you make when you decide

ube quilting 04-25-2013 04:06 AM

I see half triangles with a neutral sea glass blue/green as the opposite or background and make a scrappy ocean waves. wonderful fabrics!

Same here. Will be beautiful!

gabeway 04-25-2013 04:43 AM

Nice present!

laurafet 04-25-2013 05:02 AM

Large enough for pillows? I love Hawaiian prints, and throw pillows go about anywhere. A heavier fabric will mean washable more often.

#1piecemaker 04-25-2013 05:07 AM

ooooohhh!!! Anything you make will be lovely. Great fabrics!

Baloonatic 04-25-2013 05:17 AM

Purses, a vest, placemats, mug rugs, table runners! Even grocery bags... you'll be the hit of the checkout line!! (Here in my area of California, and soon to affect the whole state, plastic bags are banned and paper sacks are 10 cents each!)

gramqlts 04-25-2013 06:40 AM

I can see a beautiful bright and cherry table cloth.....patchwork of course. And probably enough to make you both one. I love the bright selection of prints!

mighty 04-25-2013 07:33 AM

Beautiful fabric!!!!!!!!!!

grammysharon 04-25-2013 08:02 AM

Purses or totes???

maryb119 04-25-2013 08:08 AM

Sash them with black and make a throw quilt from them. They are pretty and colorful.

twinkie 04-26-2013 02:44 AM

I think tote bags would be just great.

lucky you!!! i'm going in a few months for a family reunion. hoping to get a chance to go to kaneohe kailua to look for some fabric too. cant wait to see your hawaiiana quilt.:o

Daisy Dew 04-26-2013 03:20 AM

Wow - I'd just have to them as eye candy for awhile!

WTxRed 04-26-2013 03:31 AM

Ohhhh very pretty fabrics! I'd use either black or white and make HST's laid out in a radiating type design for lap quilts. I recently make a quilt with one of the fabrics being 'decor' weight - it was heavier, not as much as canvas but heavier than the cottons I used. Once it was pieced and topped, no one but me could tell! Please show us what you end up with!

Krystyna 04-26-2013 04:49 AM

What fun! Now you can stare at them for days while you decide what to make!

Do you know where she purchased the fabric? I will be visiting Kauaii in May. Will be visiting quilt shops. I bought fabric at Kapaia Stitchery when I was there in 2011. Loved their fabric and their shop.

cpcarolyn 04-26-2013 06:20 AM

Beautiful.

Scakes 04-26-2013 06:23 AM

Lap quilts or throws would be beautiful but they would make beautiful tote bags or purses too. Whatever you make, enjoy.

rosiewell 04-26-2013 06:33 AM

I had one of those packets, I made a rug for a bathroom, just sew the squares and lined it with a rubberized mat. I came out really great, puts a nice splash of color on the floor.

Gannyrosie 04-26-2013 06:49 AM

2 round table cloths, or two aprons, or pillows, or bags, or heck, just about anything. Love the fabrics.

gramquilter2 04-26-2013 07:47 AM

Lucky you, show us what you end up doing with your fabric.
