Very Nice!

ogama 09-12-2011 07:49 PM

when i first started to quilt some one told me about the porch
and a horse. you have some one stand on the porch and hold up your quilt. then you get on a horse and ride past the quilt. it you see all of mis points and things wrong with it. then get a faster horse and try it again. that is what i do. as it was made with love and that is all that counts. i love your quilt. i cant find anything wrong with it. blessings ogama

It is very pretty - not sure what you were going for, but the result you have looks very good.

Trade Winds for Bali Pops. First time I used jelly rolls and of course I failed to pick a contrasty enough fabric for the triangle.

quilt is beautiful. We don't see the flaws!

ewecansew 09-12-2011 09:12 PM

I like it. Don't be so hard on yourself.

piecelover 09-12-2011 09:47 PM

I'll take it if you really don't like it! :)

Hmmm looks fine to me. It is very ncie actually.

Kitsapquilter 09-12-2011 09:57 PM

What doesn't look good to you looks great to me. I like your colors and I don't see any mistakes!! You are looking too close. We are our own worst critics. Someone else will love this quilt!

blondeslave 09-13-2011 01:01 AM

I love it! The colors are beautiful.

AUQuilter 09-13-2011 01:09 AM

I like your quilt! Looks scrappy yet flows in swirls. Quilt it and enjoy it!

As for your points not matching - I don't see it. Stand back about 10 feet - if you can't see the points that don't match, they don't exist. :)

I love the look of this quilt. It reminds me of a watercolor painting. Was this done tube style?

Juliebelle 09-13-2011 02:56 AM

I like it, great colors

lots2do 09-13-2011 03:00 AM

I wonder if you'd be happier with it if you sashed each block. It is a really cheerful quilt. Sometimes if something bugs me, I can't rest until I 'fix' it. Don't know if this is one of those for you or not. Not trying to make you annoyed, just trying to help out.

PS Edited to add, sash each set of four that make up the spinning star kind of shape.

twinkie 09-13-2011 03:10 AM

I don't see a thing wrong with it. I think sometimes we are our worst critic.

Sunnie 09-13-2011 03:17 AM

I think your quilt is lovely. I don't see the mis-points so I wouldn't worry about it.

memepat 09-13-2011 03:30 AM

Beautiful!! Because of the pattern you do not notice if the points are perfect. We work so close to our subject (quilt) that we see every speck that is wrong where others only see the beauty. Enjoy!!

sewmorethings 09-13-2011 03:34 AM

Don't be so hard on yourself, it is beautiful. If you don't like it send it to me............

I think it is pretty cool.

supergma 09-13-2011 03:42 AM

Your points at mighty close. No one would notice but you and the quilt police, and you know they don't count. Your colors are beautiful. Love that quilt top. when it is a finished quilt, you will love it too.

I really don't see the points not matching, even in your closeup picture. The quilt is pretty, even if it doesn't have the contrast that would show the pattern more.

One thing with Bali Pops, they are hand cut and aren't always exactly 2.5". The only time I used them, I matched them with strips of fabric that I had cut. With my fabric on top, I matched the left side and sewed the right side. So then any slight difference in the size of the Bali Pop was taken care of in the seam allowance. Also, bias cuts are difficult to sew without stretching. You may want to try starch or sizing on it.

Anyway, pretty quilt.

jgriinke 09-13-2011 03:53 AM

I agree with everyone. You are being too hard on yourself. Just quilt it, bind it and move on. ;-)

Maresan 09-13-2011 03:56 AM

I think it looks great and your being too critical of yourself. I am like that too and when you step by, you'll see the beauty of what you made. I love the fabric and design. Also, we all learn from each project, each challenge, each mistake.

This is how I feel also. It's very nice.
I have the same problems sometimes; it's nice to hear about the spray starch from others! I'll try it.

And yes, we need to stop being so hard on ourselves!

Steady Stiching 09-13-2011 03:57 AM

It is beautiful....the color combo is soft, lovely colors...this is actually pretty gorgeous!
Quilting is a journey and we learn along the way. Enjoy it!!

It'sJustMe 09-13-2011 04:01 AM

It's lovely and engaging...I mean I could get lost in your quilt...it pulls my eyes in and I want to keep looking at it. So I wouldn't stress over the unmatched points (I spy 2) and I'm sure the quilting process will only enhance.

ontheriver 09-13-2011 04:05 AM

I thinks its pretty.

Abby'smom 09-13-2011 04:06 AM

looks good -- I have decided that there is nothing easy in quilting!

quilter68 09-13-2011 04:08 AM

The pinks is very pleasing to my eyes. I can't see nixed points from my view.

chairjogger 09-13-2011 04:10 AM

wow ! I like that !

grann of 6 09-13-2011 04:10 AM

Personally, I don't see what is wrong with it. I really like it. I have been wanting to try one of those, but after having made a pinwheel quilt with 10" squares and dealing with all those biases, I am still a little gun shy. Just remember we are not looking at a quilt from 18" away except when we are sewing it. You have to stand back and enjoy the overall look.

grannie cheechee 09-13-2011 04:12 AM

I don't see anything wrong with the beautiful quilt, and I have my glasses on!!!!!! I like it.!!!!

jeanneb52 09-13-2011 04:14 AM

you are being too picky. Don't go over it with a magnifiying glass. Stand back and enjoy the riot of color...or send it too me.
