looks great from here...once washed and quilted it will be just fine!

Pieces2 09-13-2011 04:21 AM

Did you square up your blocks? If your blocks aren't square it will show up when you put the quilt top together.
Did you square up the blocks as you pieced them?
This is usually something a new quilter forgets to do.

SandyMac 09-13-2011 04:22 AM

Were I worked the rule was 3 feet ,3 seconds .You don't see it it's not there. So give your self a break your making something that will be loved not judged, and by the way your quilt is lovely.

didi 09-13-2011 04:23 AM

I agree, It looks great!!

FERSID 09-13-2011 04:27 AM

You're being too hard on yourself and all the work you've done. Whatever imperfections there may be only add character to the quilt (and IMHO, I have a hard time seeing them).

I like the colours - they're soft and their transitions give the quilt a flowing movement.

It's very true what Katier825 said - Bali Pops (as well as other brand pre-cuts) are NOT - I repeat NOT always cut accurately.

I found this out the hard way also, with my last two uses of Jelly Rolls.

Which leads me think I may abandon future purchases in my effort to save cutting time.

When in actuality, it adds more time to the piecing process by having to make up for the supplier's inaccuracy.

But to say again, I think your quilt is great!

noveltyjunkie 09-13-2011 04:28 AM

I feel your pain. It is so disappointing not to have enough contrast, but so easy for it to happen. I do think the quilt is easy on the eye but if the contrast was stronger it would have been amzing- lovely fabric choice (and your piecing looks good to me too)

babygirl8 09-13-2011 04:34 AM

Your being to hard on yourself. I think it looks very neat, you can always add something to it, but dont give up on it, this is how we learn...

vivoaks 09-13-2011 04:34 AM

I think it looks just fine! You may have had problems with matching points, etc., because you used Bali pops. I haven't bought any, but I've heard that the Bali pops aren't cut by machine. They're cut by hand, and are not at all a perfect 2-1/2". Just that as an issue could have caused all the problems you encountered.

thenonnielady 09-13-2011 04:35 AM

I like it, too. When it is quilted, it will look different, also. Put it back a couple of days, pull it out. It will look totally different then it does when you are working on it.

Fabaddict 09-13-2011 04:40 AM

It is beautiful. I don't see where the points don't match either.

roadrunr 09-13-2011 04:48 AM

Don't be too hard on yourself, your points look good (and does it really matter if they are all correct) and so does the quilt in a scrappy kind of way. It doesn't look as bad as you htink- it's just not what you were expecting. The jelly roll that you used just wasn't the one that you should have used. I bet if you tried this with different fabrics, you would love it. and I'm sure that some one will just love the quilt that you just made.

here is a picture of the one I made a while back....yours looks very nice! Colors are great also.

sguillot 09-13-2011 04:56 AM

I think it looks fine. We are our own worst critic. This pattern isn't suppose to match. That's the nice thing about this pattern. Don't be so hard on your self. I personally like it a lot.

has tried this pattern and can tell me if it worked for them.
Trade Winds for Bali Pops. First time I used jelly rolls and of course I failed to pick a contrasty enough fabric for the triangle.

bebe 09-13-2011 05:01 AM

it will all disappear in the quilting
everytome we make mistakes in our quilts it is a learning lesson
looks good to me

quiltymom 09-13-2011 05:03 AM

I like it too!

Wanabee Quiltin 09-13-2011 05:03 AM

I love it, but then I love scrap quilts. I think you did a great job.

Wanabee Quiltin 09-13-2011 05:04 AM

Love this quilt too !

quilter13 09-13-2011 05:05 AM

It's very pretty. We are always hardest on ourselves. What we see as a mistake no one else even notices. You did great!!

Dianemarie 09-13-2011 05:11 AM

I actually like the shades and pattern. Don't really see a problem. Hummmmm

Kath12 09-13-2011 05:12 AM

I think it looks just fine! Once it is quilted, you would have to look for errors.

Rettie V. Grama 09-13-2011 05:13 AM

It is very pretty. I see only one spot where the points don't match and that is the lower left corner. Block # 2 is smaller than the others. Otherwise I can't see anyplace where the points don't match.

Krystyna 09-13-2011 05:17 AM

I love it. The colors are gorgeous and if you don't want it, send it my way!

Sewfine 09-13-2011 05:17 AM

It looks pretty to me.

Sewfine 09-13-2011 05:18 AM

It looks pretty to me. Oops sorry for the double post.

mucky 09-13-2011 05:20 AM

Take a 3 ft look. Look at it 3 feet away and if it looks great it is. I think it is pretty.

jeannie t 09-13-2011 05:21 AM

I think it would look great in my house very pretty!

Val in IN 09-13-2011 05:23 AM

Looks great to me. If you really hate it, I'll be happy to take it off your hands :-)

Becka 09-13-2011 05:25 AM

It's fine. Has a "fun" feel to it. My galloping horse loves it too :D

wonderwoman 09-13-2011 05:26 AM

I LoVE your quilt...pretty colors and I do love the pattern. Don't be so hard on yourself...stand back and look at the beauty of your work.

hoppa 09-13-2011 05:29 AM

it looks great you are being too hard on yourself

amyjo 09-13-2011 05:29 AM

looks great. Take it easy on yourself. you are too critical.

chaskaquilter 09-13-2011 05:34 AM

Looks fantastic to me. Finish it, quilt it and enjoy it. All of my quilts seem to have points that don't match and my family think I am a quilt artist.

dragonfly south 09-13-2011 05:37 AM

I teach and take it from me... all you need is a lovely border to tie all the colors together. Take all the advice you've been given and know that its a lovely "gift" you've made. Either for yourself or for a special friend, who'll love it because you made it.

Geri B 09-13-2011 05:37 AM

don't be so hard on yourself...that top is really neat....actually you will be the only one seeing whatever flaws you say are on it, the design and colors are busy enough to hide any and all "mistakes" you may be seeing.....just finish it with a smile on your face and go on to #6.

Don't sweat the small stuff!!!! Enjoy the process.....

gramarraine 09-13-2011 05:38 AM

I love your colors, it is a very pretty quilt.

sherry mcd 09-13-2011 05:44 AM

Lighten up! The colors are beautiful. Put it away for a month or so, and then come back to it.
