Lost quilt

1 Attachment(s)
recently i moved from plano texas to south carolina....my moving co. lost numerous boxes...some containing quilts...one quilt in particular is a bonnie hunter pattern....mine is done with very recognizable fabric - halloween pumpkins, bright greens & an orange plaid border...please keep an eye out for it...my boxes were to be delivered in december 2016...the moving company just called & is giving up the search for my stuff.
p.s my boxes were marked with my phone number, and very noticeable tags of bright pink or yellow - with "Truck" or "Pod" noted...the "Truck" boxes were quilts...
some things were irreplaceable, family items & mostly, my quilts...
thank you

Tartan 05-30-2017 11:27 AM

So sorry for your loss of irreplaceable items!

Susie42quilter 05-30-2017 12:03 PM

Pry that an honest person will call you to return your boxes safely, there are more honest people in this world Han we realize!

paintmejudy 05-30-2017 12:13 PM

I, and all of the QB community, are so sorry for this irreplaceable loss. How awful.

Daylesewblessed 05-30-2017 12:22 PM

I am so sorry this has happened to you. It is so sad.

I hope they are resting peacefully in a storage unit somewhere and that someone will discover them in time and get them back to you.

mrodarme 05-30-2017 12:29 PM

Oh no!!! How awful!! Prayers for a recovery of all your treasures!!

nativetexan 05-30-2017 02:23 PM

Oh my , i am so sorry. I went through that last year. tons of things lost, broken, ruined. No quilts missing that i know of but bedding and such for sure. I may never know all that is gone. found some in wrong rooms, so that was good. I do so hope someone sees this and can help. There is no excuse for shoddy work from anyone!

twinkie 05-30-2017 02:34 PM

So sad. We will be on the look out., Do you have any other pictures?

GingerK 05-30-2017 02:42 PM

After having just gone thru a move (very stressful but so far, nothing lost--just misplaced, Who would put a box labeled 'pantry' in a bedroom??) I am so sorry for your horrible experience. If the moving company is unable to rectify the situation, I would certainly be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau. I would also be naming names when talking about the experience.

quiltingshorttimer 05-30-2017 05:24 PM

Oh--this makes me want to cry! Do you mind it I print out your information and post on the message board (assuming there is one) at the KCRegional Quilt Fest in O.P. KS in 2 weeks? you never know who might know something.

givio 05-30-2017 08:11 PM

This is a popular web site for quilters-- maybe you can ask to have your situation posted on their web site. http://www.quilterscache.com/MISSINGQUILTS.html Maybe someone would notice your photo and offer a lead on your missing boxes.

Oh for sure! publicity goes both ways and word of mouth is a good form of publicity also!!!

leighway 05-31-2017 02:33 AM

What a shame! I'm sorry and I do hope your quilts turn up. Thanks for posting so we can keep an eye out.

jmoore 05-31-2017 02:48 AM

What an unfortunate loss...but I have heard a few stories about missing items by moving companies. I'm afraid it happens quite often. When I moved from California to Maine, I transported my grandmother's china and a few sentimental (irreplaceable) items in my own car rather than on the moving truck because of similar stories.

I hope your quilt(s) miraculously show up.

mrodarme 05-31-2017 03:18 AM

i do not mind...and appreciate the help in getting the word out...the quilt top is large - at least 86x98...its bonnie hunters pattern but the pumpkin fabric is what is noticeable...also the black is not a solid, but has very faint pattern that cant be seen until you get up close...i still have the binding made!!!...i hope finding this leads to my other boxes being found...THANK YOU....

lindaschipper 05-31-2017 04:02 AM

Sorry for your loss. In this day and age of quilts being stolen I would pack them and my machines in the car with me when moving.

anonymous 05-31-2017 04:23 AM

Don't give up hope. As bad as it seems, sometimes things still turn up. You can imagine that the moving company does not understand the value to a quilt. (The quilt is beautiful, by the way!) I am sending a prayer and good wishes for your lost boxes to make their way home. Hugs to you from your quilting friends.

Geri B 05-31-2017 05:08 AM

Is the company ready to compensate for the loss?

Gail B 05-31-2017 05:16 AM

So sorry this happened to you. It boggles my mind that this happens as often as it does.

Snooze2978 05-31-2017 05:17 AM

I had the same problem with my moving company. Lost boxes, damaged furniture. After remodeling the house, unpacking, etc. I was too tired to fight with the moving company for the lost/damaged goods. Think they realize that and take that into account. Just my take on the subject.

So sorry for your loss. Hopefully they will find them one of these days.

Onebyone 05-31-2017 05:25 AM

We used a well known moving company from our move from CA to AR. We had a horrible experience too and it took months to get compensated for all the loss and damage. The moving company acted like they couldn't be bothered after the first phone call. Only the promise of lawsuit got the ball rolling. Most of our boxes were open and looked rummaged through inside the truck!

sewbizgirl 05-31-2017 05:42 AM

So sorry! When I was a kid we moved using a moving company and the packers stole whatever caught their fancy. I will never trust a moving company again.

Hope you get your quilts back!

quiltybarb 05-31-2017 05:48 AM

It could turn up anywhere.....will keep an eye out for this quilt...........

Homespun 05-31-2017 09:34 AM

sorry they got lost.

buddy'smom 05-31-2017 10:24 AM

That is terrible, I hope they do show up, maybe if some one finds them they'll be honest enough to return them, stunning quilt.

QM 05-31-2017 11:50 AM

I grieve for your losses.

maryellen2u 05-31-2017 04:30 PM

I am so sorry about your loss. I will say a prayer to St. Anthony for you.

Jordan 05-31-2017 05:19 PM

So sorry to hear your story and I know you must be just sick because of your lose. Hopefully, someone will see your quilt and try and find the maker. Good luck.

RosaSharon 05-31-2017 09:44 PM

May I (try) to post it in my FB quilt groups, or did you? Bonnie Hunter has a group called Quiltsville. If you are on FB you can do a search for her group and post it there. Ask people to re-post it for you. I have seen several quilts returned through social media exposure.

Jane Quilter 05-31-2017 09:57 PM

I am shocked.....and obviously so naive . I cant imagine your grief. Great ideas for recovery have been mentioned...but one more set of eyes, in a different part of the country, is on the lookout for you.

copycat 06-01-2017 02:09 AM

It was smart of you to put your phone number on the boxes. Praying you will recover the lost quilts.

lue 06-01-2017 03:21 AM

I am so sorry!! My hope is that they will be found and returned to you. I know that they can't be replaced but I hope the insurance company reimburses you for handmade items at the handmade item price!!

mrodarme 06-01-2017 04:38 AM

thank you all for the lookouts...i am continuing my search, but no luck...i posted pics of this quilt b/c of the identifiable pumpkin fabric...others are lost also & parts of my cherished fabric stash...maybe if found, my other boxes will be also...the reimbursement was very small for the amount lost/stolen & broken...i see the mover name has been removed from the post, so if you are moving from the dallas tx area, feel free to contact me & i will give u the name so this wont happen to you...
keep looking....i appreciate it & keep up hope my items will be found...especially my family items...thank you all....

Tweety2911 06-01-2017 05:02 AM

Your situation just breaks my heart. Praying also that someone will realize the treasures they hold that belong to you and return your items.

Billy'swife 06-01-2017 06:56 AM

Oh, no......prayers that this will have a happy ending and your quilts and belongings will be returned to you.
