I've been making lots of sets of placemats for Christmas gifts -- it's the first time I have made them, and they are sooo much easier to FMQ than a quilt. I may quit being a "quilter" and become a "placematter". :-D

KathyAire 12-08-2010 05:54 PM

Very nice. Love the colors.

dyer804 12-08-2010 05:55 PM

I haven't tried FMQ yet, but maybe place mats would be a good place to start. You did a nice job!

mommamac 12-08-2010 05:56 PM

great variety - nothing wrong with being a placematter either!

laurafet 12-08-2010 05:56 PM

I really need to try FMQ, I'm just afraid to. I made placemats a couple of years ago, even used a walking foot to quilt them, they still 'crawled'. Nice work, yours look great!

Little Sew n' Sew 12-09-2010 05:18 AM

What a great idea!Think I'll be a place mat quilter too. They are beautiful!

quiltbugs 12-09-2010 05:40 AM

thanks for all the nice comments! Placemats are so quick and easy to do, and they are really a breeze to FMQ compared to dragging a full size quilt through the machine.

Joan Dickson 12-09-2010 05:52 AM

Those are so pretty. I am also into making placemats and table runners. I asked for plain white square dishes for Christmas to be able to show off my new placemats.

sandpat 12-09-2010 06:09 AM

Very pretty....you did a great job on them!

Potholders also. I joined the potholder swap and making them was so much fun, and ever so much easier to quilt. You don't have to send out these small projects for quilting and you get almost instant results and pleasure from making them. I love the idea of becoming a "placematter", LOL.

Carol W 12-09-2010 03:42 PM

Those are nice!!! I love you color choices!!!

SewExtremeSeams 12-09-2010 04:25 PM

Gorgeous! I love the deep rich colors that you used, placematter.

CoventryUK 12-09-2010 04:35 PM

Just finished a set tonight!!! They are for a raffle prize tomorrow evening!!

ozarkmama 12-09-2010 05:05 PM

What is FMQ? I am not familiar with all these initials yet. Must be because I am not a "texter".

Latrinka 12-09-2010 05:21 PM
