After a torrid month of sickness and upheaval in my home and so much hot weather, I am so looking forward to having my Selvedge Quilt Display in a fortnight's time. I grow more in love with selvedges every day and just had to share the lovely packages of selvedges the postie delivered today from some Aussie online friends.

The other photos are another couple of selvedge quilts which will be on display, a total of 30 in all. I have another 3 already planned ready to sew.

Very nice!!

zozee 03-06-2016 09:19 PM

OH, so cute!!! I can see why you're in love with selvedges. My favorite is the Walking the Dog, but the seal is sure adorable too.

JuneBillie 03-06-2016 09:20 PM

You did such a beautiful job on these quilts.

ChrisDee 03-06-2016 10:46 PM

Those are darling. Really clever idea!

Halo 03-06-2016 11:16 PM

DOTTYMO 03-06-2016 11:20 PM

What fantastic quilts so cute.

QM 03-06-2016 11:21 PM

Your work on these is amazing, not that I have any interest in working this way.

OhCanada 03-07-2016 12:47 AM

Nice! You have inspired me - I will be making a selvedge pin cushion this week and maybe a hot pad as well

Mary O 03-07-2016 02:27 AM

What fun to open your mail and find selvages! I like all your quilts. Please show us more..they are so cute. You have a wonderful talent. Do you fuse the selvages to batting and then sew them down? The only thing so far I have made with selvages is a mug rug.

skypony 03-07-2016 03:16 AM

I've heard of people saving those. Yeah, great idea.

skypony 03-07-2016 03:18 AM

that's really cool. You did that with different stitch patterns. great job there.

Trapunta 03-07-2016 03:44 AM

Very clever of you! Nice work!

coopah 03-07-2016 04:02 AM

Wonderfully creative use of selvedges. The first is my favorite.

#1 AAA quilter 03-07-2016 04:26 AM

Those are really cute quilts. It would take me forever to save that many selvages.

ctyankee 03-07-2016 04:31 AM

I collect selvedges, too, but I've only made one quilt so far, & it's a traditional pattern rather than pictorial, as yours are. Your quilts are wonderful. And what a treat to get those packages full of selvedges in the mail!

QUILTNMO 03-07-2016 04:43 AM

those are just too cute nice job!!!

DianneK 03-07-2016 04:52 AM

Homespun 03-07-2016 05:03 AM

Those are all very cute.

QuiltnNan 03-07-2016 05:18 AM

i love the silhouettes that you used. great selvage quilts. i'd love to have enough selvages to do all of that.

grammasharon 03-07-2016 05:24 AM

You do beautiful work. These are just adorable.

Misty's Mom 03-07-2016 05:25 AM

Those are really nice. Quick question, how wide should the selvedges be to make stuff?

grammasharon 03-07-2016 05:26 AM

Lynnie25 how wide do you cut the salvedges. I would be willing to save them for someone but would want to be sure they were wide enought.

Mariposa 03-07-2016 05:31 AM

These are great! :)

ManiacQuilter2 03-07-2016 05:49 AM

Adorable quilts you made with just selvages. I love the seal with the ball the best.

PaperPrincess 03-07-2016 05:54 AM

How wonderful!!

I love your creativity and designs. Soooooo cute. Too bad I live so far away, would love to see your show. I save selvages too, and have been sewing them diagonally on paper foundations by color (I save both edges) and will make a picnic quilt with them. Love to see everyone else's ideas.

Dodie 03-07-2016 06:07 AM

I love the use of selvedges I to have been saving them I know a lady that has made vests and bags out of them and all are very nice thank you for sharing another idea

jetayre 03-07-2016 07:06 AM

Reminds me of the phrase "waste not, want not" or create beauty from nothing.....great creations.!!!

oksewglad 03-07-2016 07:07 AM

You've done it again...just last night I was sorting through my selvages and thinking of you:)...I keep wondering what I saving them for, then I see yours...

Do you ever get a chance to use the rest of your fabric? Hope all is better...I, too, wish I was closer to see it all IRL.

mjmachin 03-07-2016 07:22 AM

Wow, what great work!! I love your ideas, and the selvages give them all that extra "zap". They are so interesting. Guess I will start saving the selvages and see what I can come up with. Please keep sharing, your work is terrific!!

red-warrior 03-07-2016 08:06 AM

Amazing job and what great vision!

tessagin 03-07-2016 08:30 AM

These are stunning for selvages. Excellent work!! Never thought using them like this!

quiltstringz 03-07-2016 11:19 AM

Those are all wonderful

Fabric Galore 03-07-2016 11:24 AM

What adorable quilts. I wonder how many yards of selvage I have thrown away during the years. After seeing these quilts I am going to add more to my stash by saving the selvage.

rvsfan 03-07-2016 11:53 AM

I love them . What originality .

busy fingers 03-07-2016 12:21 PM

It never ceases to amaze me what comes from scraps.

Lynnie25 03-07-2016 12:47 PM

Sharon, ideally you need at least 1/2 inch of fabric after the selvedge edge to ensure that when sewing the selvedges together they don't pull apart.

Yes I do get a chance to use the fabrics I cut the selvedges from. But right now I am right into creating quilts using both plain and printed selvedges. This year though I want to make my quilt using the fabric license plates my lovely US Quilty friends sent me last year.

I will post lots of pics of the display so you can all see it as if you were there. Of course I would be happy to bring the display to the US....ok, now I am dreaming !
