Love, love Selvedges

After a torrid month of sickness and upheaval in my home and so much hot weather, I am so looking forward to having my Selvedge Quilt Display in a fortnight's time. I grow more in love with selvedges every day and just had to share the lovely packages of selvedges the postie delivered today from some Aussie online friends.
The other photos are another couple of selvedge quilts which will be on display, a total of 30 in all. I have another 3 already planned ready to sew. |
Very nice!!

OH, so cute!!! I can see why you're in love with selvedges. My favorite is the Walking the Dog, but the seal is sure adorable too.
You did such a beautiful job on these quilts.
Those are darling. Really clever idea!
Love them all. You done a fantastic job on all of them.
What fantastic quilts so cute.
Your work on these is amazing, not that I have any interest in working this way.
Nice! You have inspired me - I will be making a selvedge pin cushion this week and maybe a hot pad as well
So very nice.

What fun to open your mail and find selvages! I like all your quilts. Please show us more..they are so cute. You have a wonderful talent. Do you fuse the selvages to batting and then sew them down? The only thing so far I have made with selvages is a mug rug.
I've heard of people saving those. Yeah, great idea.
that's really cool. You did that with different stitch patterns. great job there.
Very clever of you! Nice work!
Wonderfully creative use of selvedges. The first is my favorite.
Those are really cute quilts. It would take me forever to save that many selvages.
I collect selvedges, too, but I've only made one quilt so far, & it's a traditional pattern rather than pictorial, as yours are. Your quilts are wonderful. And what a treat to get those packages full of selvedges in the mail!
those are just too cute nice job!!!
amazing work
Those are all very cute.
i love the silhouettes that you used. great selvage quilts. i'd love to have enough selvages to do all of that.
You do beautiful work. These are just adorable.
Those are really nice. Quick question, how wide should the selvedges be to make stuff?
Lynnie25 how wide do you cut the salvedges. I would be willing to save them for someone but would want to be sure they were wide enought.
These are great! :)
Adorable quilts you made with just selvages. I love the seal with the ball the best.
How wonderful!!

I love your creativity and designs. Soooooo cute. Too bad I live so far away, would love to see your show. I save selvages too, and have been sewing them diagonally on paper foundations by color (I save both edges) and will make a picnic quilt with them. Love to see everyone else's ideas.

I love the use of selvedges I to have been saving them I know a lady that has made vests and bags out of them and all are very nice thank you for sharing another idea
Reminds me of the phrase "waste not, want not" or create beauty from nothing.....great creations.!!!
You've done it again...just last night I was sorting through my selvages and thinking of you:)...I keep wondering what I saving them for, then I see yours...
Do you ever get a chance to use the rest of your fabric? Hope all is better...I, too, wish I was closer to see it all IRL. |
Wow, what great work!! I love your ideas, and the selvages give them all that extra "zap". They are so interesting. Guess I will start saving the selvages and see what I can come up with. Please keep sharing, your work is terrific!!
Amazing job and what great vision!
These are stunning for selvages. Excellent work!! Never thought using them like this!
Those are all wonderful
What adorable quilts. I wonder how many yards of selvage I have thrown away during the years. After seeing these quilts I am going to add more to my stash by saving the selvage.
I love them . What originality .
It never ceases to amaze me what comes from scraps.
Sharon, ideally you need at least 1/2 inch of fabric after the selvedge edge to ensure that when sewing the selvedges together they don't pull apart.
