nice love the stars!!!!

Polliwog 09-03-2011 12:05 PM

This looks great. I am working on a log cabin now and find that to keep to strips where this particular pattern requires them, I have to turn the block to the right side for every strip, arrange the newest strip in place, turn everything over, and then finally sew on the strip. Only takes a few seconds more, but that is much better than pulling out stitching errors.

To me, in most you see done, the light and darks coming together create a zig-zag. I lost that look. With this one the gold and the star seem to make one block.

I love it! And I think the border print is lovely. I'm glad you went against the store's advice. ;)

gramajo 09-03-2011 12:17 PM

The border is perfect with the rest of the fabrics you used.

scraphq 09-03-2011 12:17 PM

Beautiful quilt, I don't see anything that looks backwards. No one will know unless you tell them and I'm sure noone on this board will tell.

Jim's Gem 09-03-2011 12:30 PM

Looks great!! It is your own creation. Who says it is "wrong" if that is the way you wanted to be.

I love it. I didn't think there was any right or wrong with log cabins. They can be put together anyway you like.

Ah! But there are so many different layouts for log cabin - that's part of its charm! My second quilt was a LC for my middlest - we had great fun laying out the blocks different ways and picking our favourite.

Looks perfect to me. I love it. Not sure what you are saying is wrong with it.

I have never made a log cabin quilt so don't understand the difference of where the lights and darks should be. Your quilt is gorgeous, love the colours, and the border is perfect for it IMHO. Thank you for sharing, I have saved a pic of it for future reference, hope that is o.k.

chelgvns 09-03-2011 01:39 PM

LOVE IT!!!!!!! Personally I not a fan of log cabins but this one just might change my mind. Its absolutly gorgeous and I think the border is stunning... really makes it pop! I am fully impressed. Hmmm..... Do it want to make a log cabin now???? I may be copying this one:)

So it means that when making a log cabin block the 'right' way you add a light strip first to the center, didn't know it made a big difference. Sometimes I begin with a light strip and other times I begin with a dark strip, important thing is that all the blocks in a quilt are begun the same way.

pojo 09-03-2011 01:59 PM

I don't see anything wrong with it.
If you don't like it one of us will take it off your hands.

Grandma Jane 09-03-2011 04:10 PM

I did the same thing on a red & white christmas quilt one time - it was used in a raffle and the fellow who got it was so pleased with it - it wasn't a mistake any longer - it was a design element!

pjustice63 09-03-2011 04:14 PM
