Lynnie, how did you finish off the edges?? Did you just attach a half hex?? I need to start figuring out how I am going to finish the same pattern but I made a table runner.

Tartan 05-27-2015 07:53 AM

Great hexies!

lynnie 05-27-2015 08:21 AM

I just appliqued the edges to the black fabric. when you have it all done, keep the same design don't cut or use have hexes. just applique it to the borders, I cut mine 6" and about 1 1/2" is under the hexes. I wanted to make sure it was covered. it needs to be quilted yet. I think I may have Charisma quilt it.. too much for my hands to do the hand quilting on it. I'm now onto a 1" hes, these were 3/4" hexes, and the crasiness of it put me up to do 1" ones next. the next one is a GFG. I can't wait to finish that.

Do you think I should put some hexes on the border?

Judith1005 05-27-2015 08:40 AM

Nice job Lynnie. I love what you've created. Thanks for explaining how you did the borders. I could "see" how you did it. I vote for no on the hexi's in the borders. I think right now it makes a nice frame for your quilt. Look forward to seeing what you decide. Have fun on your next one.

lynnie 05-27-2015 08:56 AM

there are no two fabrics alike in this quilt. I received fabric from a lot of people on the board and just want to give them credit and thank them for all the fabrics you sent to me. I wouldn't have been able to do it all without you. I love having a pieces of fabric from fellow board members in my quilts. I'm collecting fabrics from friends to have in this next quilt too. just started it, but it goes fast.

OMG! It's Beautiful! I love love love hexies! I am SEW addicted, it ain't even funny! luvstoquilt-you were told the truth, they are very addictive! I love the black border, and that you're not cutting edges straight or using half hexies, I like them to keep original shape, too much hard work to cut off! That would just kill me! I wouldn't put any in the border, just my humble opinion.

grammyto2 05-27-2015 04:30 PM

Find the hexes with the candy corn... Find the hexe with the bright yellow star...

Looking forward to seeing it quilted. Did you name this quilt?

I use the fiskers punch on sale at Michaels with a coupon.
I love the glossy junk mail the best for the papers. they hold up nicely.
I'm doing 1" now with the punch again, in a GFG pattern.
didn't name this one, but I call it a triad unit.
