Lynnie's "hexes" are now big enough where she needed help to hold it up for a photo! Her chubby little fingers are bleeding but still working. Way to go.

thanks everyone. it's so much work now and so big that I just about get a round on a week now.
been working on leaves for about 8 hrs and am not done yet. I'll put them on tomorrow and start flowers over
the weekend to put them on the quilt on Tuesday.
It's getting big but not big enough yet.

thank you to all who sent me some fabric to be a part of it. Can you find your fabrics?
Thanks Jeanne for posting my quilt again.

PurplePassion 07-01-2015 11:28 AM

Wow, what a beautiful quilt top Lynnie. I don't have the patience to work on those.

JuneBillie 07-01-2015 12:35 PM

Lynnie, WOW! It's beautiful. I can really see it now, because it's really big compared to the last picture. I also like the bright colors. It does look like a big beautiful flower garden. You have really come a long way on it. It will be worth it to get it the size you want.

Are you still needing greens?

suern3 07-01-2015 01:20 PM

....expialidocous! I think that's how it's spelled!!!!....

You must sit all day and do these....I must have ADD.....I can only do hexies for 1-2 hrs, then I have to get up and do something else!!!!!

Lynne, what kind of thread are you using to sew them together....I have tried almost everything and still get shredding a lot........I think that's why I cannot do for a long stretch...too frustrated worrying about thread shredding.....

lawsonmugs 07-02-2015 06:34 AM

Love your hexie's so how big is this quilt going to be?

MargeD 07-02-2015 10:25 AM

Keep up your good work, the quilt is beautiful.

Yooper32 07-02-2015 11:40 AM

That is the most vibrant hexie quilt I have seen. NO white, just pure glorious color. Love it. OOps, there are a very few whites there, but very minimal, I refuse to see them.

lynnie 07-02-2015 01:23 PM

the quilt is planned to be for a queen. I may stop at the 60x80 and add borders, don't know yet. still have some summer left without the car. My son is getting his CDl, so he's using my car.

I use serger thread or cheap stuff to baste the papers (junkmail, manila folders, and paper plates) to the fabrics.
I sew them with Gutermann thread to hand sew with approx. 20 stitches per side of the hex. About 18=20" of thread, and when I have a problem, I beeswax the thread. it doesn't break b/c it is shorter in length. If you do it, have fun.

PaperPieces.com will send you free sample kits if you're not sure if you want to do this. I'd get about 3-4 kits to attach them together and see how you like them.WARNING: it is addictive. Charisma has my triads, waiting for her to quilt them. will show it when it's done.
