Magic 9 Patch - the next generation
Saw the tutorial for this a couple days ago and decided to give it a try. I thought all the 7" squares were supposed to be the same fabric (the tan) , but maybe not. ?
grrr. where's the pic |
Do you have a link or pic of what you having trouble with?

picture now?

What is it you are unhappy with? I think the colors play together very nicely. Here is a link to the directions to one variation.

Well I like it...colors too!
The link says "scrappy" but I think you're on to something pretty special.
Pretty blocks!
I've now realized all those tan pieces were supposed to be different colors. And I used a batik that I bought to make myself a skirt! grr. oh well, it's not too late to either continue with the tans or start changing the 7" sqaures to different colors. I can always use 7" tan batiks in something else..
I like the pattern ... I think yours is going to turn out excellent..

Here's another picture. Should I continue with the tan batiks or stop and continue with a mixture of other fabrics.
Very pretty pattern! And I love the brights next to the tan. It gives my eyes time to breathe.
I like it with the tans, but I think it would be fine with other colors too. I know - I'm not a big help! I do like this version.
This is a very unique pattern, can't wait to see it when its done
I like the tans, I would continue in this manner if it were mine. I though happen to like this color of tan as a neutral in quilts.
I like the tans. It makes the other colors pop.
I really like the effect of the tan batiks with the brights. However, you have to do it the way that speaks to you.
I would stay with the tan batiks. It is going to look really nice.
Ultimately, you have to be happy with your choices. If you like it, then go for it. IMHO, it looks like the tan overpowers the other fabrics instead of acting like a background. Like I said, just my opinion. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
I'm liking this!!
I like it just as you have it laid out, I think it will be a beautiful quilt.
neat block thanks to who posted link to pattern
I say continue with the tan. I don't know what you did, but I really like it!
Either way will be terrific! :)
Earlier this year we did this quilt at my guild, it was a free pattern at the time. It was fun and interesting to see the different ways people chose their fabrics. Some used all the same colors for the 7" as you have. Some went totally scrappy and everything in between. By the way, all of them were fantastic. With this pattern I don't know how you could go wrong. I like what you have done so far.
Stick with the tan batik. Looks good. I like it.
You'll find these are addictive and will get a chance to do another with more colors. |
I like it where can I source the pattern?
I like it!! It's going to be a beautiful quilt when you finish - Be sure and let us all see
thank you for the link ! fun idea !
I think its lovely just like you have it...its going to be lovely.
I think I would just keep it this way. I like it!
The beige gives the eyes a resting place. I really like it as you have it. Would give my eye-teeth for that beige batik fabric.
I love it-scrappy and all those colors..very nice
I love it like that.
I like it with the brown/tan.. However I like the one with the scrappy colors too. Its your quilt your decision in the end..
That is so neat!
This is POSITIVELY great! I love the colors you've picked too!
There's another variation floating around where they have developed a pinwheel look in the center. If I can locate that I'll post the link to it. Another mind boggling variation. Our quilt club went crazy with the original "Disappearing Nine Patch"! We played with that for almost a year. This one is going to make them CRAZY (again). Thank you SO MUCH for sharing this! |
I like it, something different then the traditional black.
