Magicians 9 Patch

5 Attachment(s)
I have decided to call this quilt " The Magicians 9 Patch ". Since the blocks began as a 9 patch, then became " disappearing " 9 patches, that were then made back into larger 9 patches !

I could not be happier with this quilt. I honestly couldn't. It still needs a binding, but I am already in love, finished or not !

I had intended for the back squares to be more evenly dispersed, but by the time I realized it, well, there was no going back at that point LOL.

Looks Awesome! Its also a great way to make a quilt bigger with Ease.

Jackie Spencer 03-02-2014 03:22 AM

alikat110 03-02-2014 04:44 AM

Gorgeous quilt. ....

PaperPrincess 03-02-2014 04:47 AM

That came out really nicely! I like the QAYG method with the sashing. You get a reversible quilt.

Tartan 03-02-2014 04:59 AM

:thumbup:Great quilt and reversible too!

ube quilting 03-02-2014 05:20 AM

What a lovely quilt. I think the back is as wonderful as the front. Is this a quilt as you go project? I love all the fabric and colors in it.
peace

Annz 03-02-2014 07:36 AM

The colors are making me think of sherbet ice. Both sides are great.

LindaMRB 03-02-2014 07:39 AM

Mariposa 03-02-2014 07:39 AM

Looks like a fun quilt to make! :)

MaryMo 03-02-2014 07:42 AM

beautiful quilt ... front and back!! I've wondered what a quilt would look like when D9P was returned to 9P .... thanks for the inspiration.

SlightlyOffQuilter 03-02-2014 09:31 AM

Thanks everyone ! And yes I did do this QAYG and then joined with the sashing !

SheriR , no pattern, But super duper easy to do !

1. Make a 9 patch ( I started with 4 1/2 inch squares )
2. Cut the 9 patch down the center from top to bottom
3. Cut again down the center side to side
4. Now you have 4 squares cut
5. Make another 9 patch ( now you need 6 3/4 inch squares )using your 4 squares from above as the corners, and 1 solid print as the center
6. Thats it !

serenitybygrace 03-02-2014 09:59 AM

I love your idea for this quilt. I'm going to "borrow" it soon for one of my own. Thanks so much for sharing. It is really a pretty quilt.

Tweety2911 03-02-2014 03:35 PM

Wonderful quilt and so nicely done, front and back!!

JoyceHoopes 03-02-2014 04:34 PM

Thank you for sharing the pattern for your wonderful quilt. I love both side and the QAYG method is one I really like. Now once I figure out this "disappearing" thing I'll be set to go. I've looked at a bunch of the videos and tutorials for it and am just having a problem getting my mind around it. Sooner or later it will click. With your kindness in sharing your directions I can go ahead and just follow the directions. Maybe all will work better that way... Thanks gain Joyce in DE

For everyone that expressed an inrterest in seeing how this block was made, I just uploaded a new video tutorial to the tutorials section here on the board on how I did it !

i watched the video. Great! Thanks! How big is your finished quilt? How many different prints did you use? How much material for each print approximately?

Cinjossar 03-03-2014 05:03 AM

Your quilt is beautiful. I haven't tried a QAYG yet, but it is on my bucket list. Your quilt has inspired me to move it up a few notches higher and try one.

GailG 03-03-2014 05:07 AM

It's a great quilt! I like ALL of it!

Finished size is roughly 83 x 83 ( 25 blocks total )

Hmmm not sure actually how many different prints LOL, my first 9 patch for each square was made from left over charms from different charm packs I had used for other projects that I trimmed down to 4 1/2 inches, then the centers for my larger 9 patch squares there were 5 prints, 5 squares each

carolynjo 03-03-2014 06:49 AM

I really like this one.

wraez 03-03-2014 07:49 AM
