I like the idea of appliqué in the white blocks. Lose the circles -they would be best for another project. The colors you chose for the log cabin blocks is fabulous, though!

ellifour 07-06-2012 12:26 PM

I like Arlene's suggestion along with using verigated thread for quilting.

Maybe you would like it better if you couched some yarn on top or used colored thread when quilted. I personally like it without the circles.

I agree. Very pretty though.

KathyPhillips 07-06-2012 01:33 PM

I would add colored strips in the borders. Maybe red/orange and purple.

Peggy Jeanne 07-06-2012 01:36 PM

I think a narrow white with a color border would be better, it would not take away from the log cabins!

Jingle 07-06-2012 02:01 PM

Very pretty, just try to make it to your liking and you will be much happier with it.

mrs. fitz 07-06-2012 02:55 PM

If you really like the circles, place them unevenly in 2's or 3's in the white blocks, then make the white border smaller and add a border in a color you like.

Jannie 07-06-2012 06:24 PM

I think the white squares are to much so would add some color there. Maybe using Mrs. Fitz's idea of using the circles in the white squares. I to would add a colored border and make the white inner border smaller. Would like to see the quilt when you are decide what to do and finish it.

Scakes 07-06-2012 07:08 PM

I don't care for the circles either but the colored border looks really nice with it. Pretty quilt.

Great colour work

paulswalia 07-07-2012 03:22 AM

I like the idea of a smaller border, and maybe one colored border with it - but how about one of those circles in the middle of each while block - gives you something to echo quilt around.

Circles are fun. Move them around to make asymmetrical arrangement . Overlap some on the cabin blocks. Make small groups or lines of circles. Cut a few in half! Make some smaller sizes. I don't have the ability to make a picture but I encourage you to experiment.

If you like a contemporary look, this could be a lot of fun! I like this idea. The appliqued border is also gorgeous for a more traditional look to the quilt. Looking forward to your post when it's done!

No Circles... Like the border idea.

GiGi 07-07-2012 04:22 AM

Yes it makes sense as with white, it shows all of the stitches; as well as seams, etc. I personally do not care for white in any quilt as the eye is drawn to the seams and fold over pressing. Just my opinion. However, the colored blocks are outstanding! Tks. G

[QUOTE=sawsan;5345179]Hi

We thought you were asking for ideas. I like your circles. I like that you added many more making them closer together as a border. Very vibrant and alive colors.

rosiewell 07-07-2012 07:36 AM

I also liked it without, to soften all the white I would maybe applique a yellow square like your centers on the white squares!

I agree. Also like quilt to u wilt's idea about having a smaller white border and adding a red border.

JanieH 07-07-2012 12:00 PM

I like Arleners' suggestion the best. It keeps the crisp lines of the log cabin.

That does make sense! You are correct that there is too much white. I would make the border smaller. Then I would add 2 other borders. Here is a picture from my Quilt Pro program.

Also I agree that you should use colored thread when quilting the white blocks

I would lay it out like this as well but appliqué three circles in the white squares. Or four whatever looks good. I like the circles.

My time 07-07-2012 12:45 PM

Oops.... see you not only added the circles you liked but you've quilted it as well.

brendadawg 07-07-2012 07:07 PM

I think the circles take away from the beauty of the quilt, but I know that's just my opinion. That and $1 will get you a sweet tea at Mickey D's!! :)

Nagi 07-07-2012 08:36 PM

I'm for no circles~how about a yellow border:cool:

GrannieAnnie 07-07-2012 10:41 PM

Could you applique a simple flower in the white spaces? Maybe using the chimney fabric from your log cabins ? Or maybe just a small square of the yellow print, set on point?

Way too much white for me. Btu the colors in the log cabins are wonderful

Jammin' Jane 09-20-2012 10:16 AM

I think it is really pretty! Nice job! :)

fred singer 09-20-2012 11:03 AM

I like it with the circles.
