This makes me smile, I just had to share.

My just turned 5 year old granddaughter just finished her first quilt - a Christmas gift for her doll. My daughter helped her. My granddaughter designed it, helped guide the fabric through the sewing machine for piecing, pressed it along the way, helped baste it, and guided the quilting.
The Christmas tree also makes me chuckle. Notice how bare the lower branches are? There is a younger sister. These kids live over 700 miles from us, so we don't see them often enough. |
Way to go. I see a new desiger in her future.

She did a great job! Your daughter is wonderful to teach her! Love the low branches on the tree...I remember those days. A friend of mine even went as far as putting her tree in an old fashion playpen! It was safe in there.
Tell her she did a great job!!! And, if it weren't a child, I'd have guessed a cat that couldn't find a quilt to curl up on!
how precious!

Oh, how precious!! I see lots of quilts in her future.
oh...that is so sweet. She is a doll herself. Please tell her that we are very proud of her and I bet her doll is going to love it!!!
Love the tree. I've done that before. With little ones, they always like to play in the tree. |
She is beautiful and she did a wonderful job with her doll quilt! She has an eye for color.
So cute!!!!
Isn't she cute. The tree makes me smile!
I remember the days of the bare tree. She is beautiful and very proud as she should be!
she looks like she is bursting at the seams with pride. I love seeing children like that. How much happier could they be? the tree looks almost like mine. I solved the ornament issue on the bottom. I put plastic ones that look like glass balls so if the cats get them which they do.. they wont break. And we tie the tree to the wall with cord at the top so no one is taking it down. My four cats think the tree is the best gift we could have given them. they sleep under it, race under it, bat the ornaments.. its a 8.5 foot toy. We used fishing line when the kids were small to hold it up just incase someone hung on and well flopped over. Three kids not one took it down. I hope you send her a tiny bit of novelty fabric so she can make something else for her dolly.
that's the way my son's ree looks (they have 2 cats)

Oh, I love your budding quilter!

Adorable...brings back memories for sure! Your DGD is so cute and a real seamstress in the making! I sewed with my DGM at that age and my DGD and DGS are sewing with me now! (they are 7 and 9) My empty branches now are a result of my 5 yr old cat! He thinks they are there for him to bat! Gotta love him!
nice
I love that part about nothing on the lower half of the tree.... :) |
It is so pretty. She looks so very proud of it. I sure understand the tree, my DGD is two and a half now but we sure had a time last year.

Great job! My grandson, who is 5, loves to sew and wants his own sewing machine. I may get him one and keep it here.
