I made this quilt top from this month's Quilters world mag. Measures 60x60...I had the idea of making it for my DH who is 6 ft plus.. Now it seems short. Would it make sense to add two rows so it becomes 60x84? I have extra fabric in my stash. Just need someone else's opinion.

I, too, have a tall man in my home. I'd add the two rows, that way he can cover his toes!

bibliostone 10-30-2011 09:02 PM

Yes, make it longer!

Murphy 10-30-2011 09:12 PM

I have tall men and they like them longer for toe covering (smile). Beautiful quilt. Thank you for sharing.

BrendaY 10-30-2011 09:13 PM

Absolutely! Tall guys need their toes covered too!

nycbgirl 10-30-2011 09:54 PM

Yes, I'd say make it longer....

earthwalker 10-30-2011 09:58 PM

My husband is shorter than me so we don't have this problem:). I would definitely make it longer....looks great by the way...very man-caveish (not sure that is a word but you know what I mean)

AKDaffyodil 10-30-2011 10:32 PM

I love your throw. I made my husband's quilt two rows longer....it was just right!

irishrose 10-30-2011 10:43 PM

One row longer and the borders should do it. He's not likely to cover his head. Your choice of fabrics is wonderful. I really like the brown swirled one..

wolfkitty 10-30-2011 10:45 PM

Definitely make it longer. 60" is only 5', so he would need the extra length. I love your fabrics! Great quilt!

If it were mine, I'd appreciate the extra length.

Like the pattern, love the brown fabric!

Maybe not over the head but sometimes its nice to tuck the feet in.

sandyl 10-31-2011 01:06 AM

Why not?

SueDor 10-31-2011 01:15 AM

Really nice! Yes make it longer.

rootyr 10-31-2011 01:18 AM

Kool! Yes, make it longer!

knlsmith 10-31-2011 01:22 AM

Nice colors! Def longer. What page was this on? Do you remember? I don't remember seeing it.

justflyingin 10-31-2011 02:02 AM

Yes, make it longer. My DH is tall also.

And it is beautiful! Love those colors!

Painiacs 10-31-2011 02:45 AM

Yep! I'd add two rows or more!! I've done it for tall guys!

alikat110 10-31-2011 02:50 AM

very nice

mommessy 10-31-2011 02:51 AM

Definitely go longer. It is beautiful!

QuiltnNan 10-31-2011 02:53 AM

i would definitely add the two extra rows. it looks great.

dd 10-31-2011 04:06 AM

My husband requested his be longer. He now loves his quilt and uses it all the time. Need drape to keep out the draft and snuggle room.hehe

dmyers 10-31-2011 04:10 AM

I'd add more rows and maybe a border to make it wider and longer! Your man is going to love it!

Cuddly Quilter 10-31-2011 04:35 AM

Lovely fabrics. Yes, you can definiately add another 2 rows. Rather too long than too short. Good luck. Hope you have enough fabric.

cedarvalleyquilts 10-31-2011 04:37 AM

Love your color choices and pattern...nice combination. I would also add the extra borders. Better to be too long than too short. Nice quilt :)

Ah....go on! Spoil him! .... add the inches ..... (or feet) .... he'll appreciate it either way .... but he'll adore it with the extra length... men are such babies in the long run, aren't they?

grammysews4u 10-31-2011 05:41 AM

I always make them long enough to tuck under foot and go to under the chin. So it would take at least a row to tuck under plus shrinkage. Two rows for sure!

blondeslave 10-31-2011 05:45 AM

Great fabrics!

lovingmama 10-31-2011 05:57 AM

CoriAmD 10-31-2011 06:01 AM

Yes, I do this quite often when I have a pattern that makes a square quilt. I do not care for square quilts that are meant to be used as a throw.

QUILTNMO 10-31-2011 06:34 AM

nice great colors

ccrow99 10-31-2011 06:55 AM

Just finished one for my 6'3" husband. Added two rows and borders and he loves it.

lodad 10-31-2011 06:58 AM

Longer is a must. Lowell ;)

Cheshirecatquilter 10-31-2011 10:39 AM

I'm only 5' tall, and even I'd like it longer to tuck under my feet and keep them warm. Go for the extra rows. It looks great.

seasaw2mch 10-31-2011 11:24 AM

Yep I have to do that all the time with patterns that I see listed in magazines. It seems they always make them way to short for the taller people and I'm surrounded by tall folks. LOL
I'm the midget at almost about 5', I keep checking but I still can't get to that 5' mark.

desertrose 10-31-2011 03:00 PM

I love it and the sashes around the blocks makes them have the appearance of the block being raised.

FancyFoot 10-31-2011 03:06 PM

Go for it

debcavan 10-31-2011 03:09 PM

Yes it makes sense. I have been doing fleece throws for taller people and making them 3 yards long. They love them. The quilt is gorgeous so far.

Elise1 10-31-2011 03:56 PM

Beautiful quilt. Another vote for making it longer.
