This is a quilt I made my DD from all her 4-H, State Horse show, State Dog Show, and regular horse shows ribbons. I added some of the photos to the bunch. Not from lack of ribbons but to add some interest. Now her DD, my DGD wants to make a quilt with her ribbons too. In the pictures she is about 2 or 3 and now she just turned 12. How time flys!!!! Hope you enjoy this quilt, it was my own design and let me tell you not easy to do with those slippery ribbons but well worth the effort made. Thanks for looking and all your comments.

Holy cow! I bet your both very proud of all that you've acomplished!

milp04 03-17-2011 06:52 AM

OH MY! Oh my gosh! Wow! How amazing. All those ribbons!

What an accomplished for DD for her dedication, hard work and efforts love of each activity . I like that you added the pictures.

Yes I would make one for DGD. I would add pictures for every year and include any ribbons and awards into a quilt.

What a wonderful way to save the awards for anyone!

With the new technology we have now you can actually copy the paper certificates received and put them into quilts. What a great way to put together the history of someone into a quilt.

Thank you so very much for sharing the picture with us here!

Fabulous - is it washable?

ssgramma 03-17-2011 07:48 AM

Just gorgeous! What an accomplishment for each of you! So many ribbons, she must be very proud!

MTS 03-17-2011 07:58 AM

Holy moly!

That's a ton of ribbons.

The whole 4-H/county fair experience is so foreign to this city girl. What a great memento - much better than sitting in a box somewhere.

Thanks for sharing.

Nope! I think she takes it down now and then. Puts it in the dryer to fluff and dust it off. Ribbons would never look the same. It just hangs on the wall.

Vivian Ketron 03-17-2011 08:43 AM

Absouletly gorgeous.

Tink74 03-17-2011 09:06 AM

That is such a great idea.... I have a huge box of ribbons from years of 4-H... I wouldn't think to quilt them.... Awesome!!

katier825 03-17-2011 09:13 AM

Just take them out and start laying them out in color and see what you can get. It takes time but it is so very rewarding. My DD hung this quilt at a 4-H open quilt show and there were tons of people who said I should do that with my ribbons. So just take the plunge.

At a recent retreat, I watched as a mom made a wall hanging from her sons Scout memorabilia It was remarkable. This takes the cake. As the local 4-H lady, you bet I'll be sharing this wonderful idea, and brag about the well done job.

I agree--it is fabulous. Ribbons tend to get scattered and lost and this way they will be special for a lot of years to come. Great idea.
