Mariner's Compass Blocks

2 Attachment(s)
I joined a paper piecing club in hopes of learning how to do paper piecing so that one day I can do one of the Judy Niemeyer quilts. I got off to a rough start, but once I got my questions answered, I hit the ground running! These are the first two blocks I did for the Mariner's Compass Collection. I am having SO much fun with this! I think I really like paper piecing! :-) I can't wait to start the 3rd block!

Your blocks are beautiful :thumbup::thumbup:

I love your blocks. They are so colorful. I, too, got off to a rough start paper piecing and didn't finish the project nor did I try PP again. Good luck.

Great job.

Those are lovely. I recently re-attempted paper piecing after a rough start several years ago. It's going much better this time, and I'm working on the Dancing with the Stars block of the month. Mariner's Compass was always on my wish list - maybe I'll take a look at this now that I can paper piece.

Beautiful blocks, I really like the first one best.

Do you have the "add a quarter" ruler. It is AWESOME... makes pp'ing so much easier.

Grandma Peg 06-03-2012 05:19 PM

Wow, what some beautiful blocks. Your quilt is going to be just out of this world

debcavan 06-03-2012 05:21 PM

Blocks are very pretty!!

Sewhappygal 06-03-2012 06:57 PM

These are beautiful. I just learned how to pp and have started a New York beauty quilt. I avoided paper piecing for a long time and now I'm having a lot of fun doing it.

OMG, those blocks are superb. I love the Mariner's Compass, such a great design. Keep it up!

You got off to a great start . Such beautiful colors. Can't wait to see the final project.

Lilrain 06-04-2012 09:41 AM

Great job. I keep thinking I wan to try paper piecing, but guess I am intimidated by how hard it looks

drgranny 06-04-2012 11:38 AM

The club you joined, is it an internet club? I might be interested in that. Crafty has a PP online course you can take. I am taking it. PP always confused me too but this teacher shows you in such a way that you don't understand how you missed the first time someone tried to show you.

pastrygrl 06-04-2012 11:48 AM

Those are so beautiful! Great job!

Helen S 06-04-2012 11:52 AM

Very pretty blocks and they have great contrast. Yes, paper piecing is lots of fun!

MdmSew'n'Sew 06-04-2012 11:58 AM

I started paper piecing before I heard that it is supposed to be difficult - wouldn't dare try certain designs the old fashioned way, when my points come out so great on paper! Your MCs are great, keep up the good work, PPing can be addictive when the results are so spectacular!

red-warrior 06-04-2012 12:45 PM

Very nice blocks.....I can't wait to see what you end up with!

Floralfab 06-04-2012 12:45 PM

Your blocks are beautiful. Learning to PP can be tough. I know it was for me too. Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing.

misscarol 06-04-2012 04:19 PM

I pieced a Mariner's Compass block earlier this Spring. I realized if I took my time, it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. Your blocks are beautiful!

GloriaC 06-05-2012 02:51 AM

WOW. Your blocks are beautiful.

Me neither. I love the results you can get from PP but not doing it.....like you, I took a class and did it in class and never again. Something about that reversing thing, I just can't wrap my brain around it.

jeanneb52 06-05-2012 02:56 AM

Lovely just lovely. Your colors are fabuloius.

Blinkokr 06-05-2012 04:05 AM
