I like the first and the last.

Quilt4u 01-07-2009 01:04 PM

All are nice But I love the first on the best.

conblond2005 01-07-2009 01:18 PM

I love the first one. That is so pretty. Encourages me to get busy on my mariners compass. How did you make that blue border around that quilt? Looks pretty cool.

conblond2005 01-07-2009 01:21 PM

Ahhh after I blew it up I can see those blue lines are log cabin squares. Good idea you had there..

DA Mayer 01-07-2009 02:18 PM

I thought 2nd then 4 but any are so gorgeous. I really like them.

SaraSewing 01-07-2009 02:50 PM

I vote for either #1 or #4. (very similar) and all very very nice. I love the colors too. You did a fantastic job.

FancyFoot 01-07-2009 02:51 PM

I vote for #1

Harmony 01-07-2009 03:19 PM

I vote for the last one. I think it frames your compass block the best. Awesome colors!

auntluc 01-07-2009 05:15 PM

This is a trick question....right?
I looked and looked at #1 then back to #4 and didn't see any difference in them.
I looked real close again...I see that the compass in #1 is on point and the compass in #4 isn't. Is there any other difference that I'm missing?

Janstar 01-07-2009 05:19 PM

Guess I'm the odd ball, I like #3.

Moonpi 01-07-2009 05:28 PM

4 for me,please.

Auntluc, the compasses are on point in all the different layouts.

Number one and number two are the same layout with different fabric triangles (blue or gold). Number two and three are the same layout with the gold or blue triangles.

I like the first photo because the square the compass is on is on point...see how the log cabin squares frame it? I hope this makes sense to others because I'm seeing something different if the compasses are all on point.
It's a beauty either way you put it together.

Oh, now I see what you were referring to, sorry for the misunderstanding. We were both saying the same thing, just in a different way.

Evelynquilts 01-08-2009 04:17 AM

I prefer the last...beautiful quilt by thw way... :-)

Marcia 01-08-2009 06:08 AM

Cynde--I am glad that you are going with number 4. It was my choice too. It frames your marniner's compass without crowding it. The quilt is just beautiful and I cannot wait to see it finished!!!!

auntluc 01-08-2009 07:56 AM

We'll be looking for a picture when you get it put together...love that blue mariner's compass.

skacian 01-10-2009 06:53 AM

salisaquilter 01-10-2009 07:50 AM

Thank you.

I was wondering when someone would ask about the large gift. I had put our kids Wii and accessories all together in it, so they wouldn't be able to guess what it was. I knew our son would recognize the size/shape of a Wii box at 20 paces, and wanted to keep them guessing as long as possible. We made them open it last on Christmas morning, it was so much fun to torture them.

Grandma Cindy 01-10-2009 08:46 AM

ditto to what bj says

dreamer2009 01-10-2009 09:07 AM

WOW!!!
Thats beautiful...

#1piecemaker 01-10-2009 09:57 AM

The last one. Fantastic job! I wish was as creative.

zennia 01-10-2009 10:14 AM

I like them all. Beautiful.

isewman 01-10-2009 12:40 PM

If it was for me, I like all of the choices.. Fantastic color's. Don-isewman1

Babs194068 01-10-2009 02:44 PM

The fourth layout is awesome, but then most of the others were to. The color combination is great.

Lynette Ebbitt 01-10-2009 03:55 PM

My dear daughter in law got me a book with this design and the simplier the better. I like the first background. It makes the compass show off.

azam 01-13-2009 04:22 PM

Either the first or the last one, the others make it look cluttered.

This is it, finally done.

TeresaP 03-31-2009 09:11 PM

I hadn't put in my 2 cent's worth, but it looks like you managed to get it together brilliantly. I love the symmetry, and the choice of colours is wonderful.

My vote goes to the finished product.

beezee54 03-31-2009 09:24 PM

I really like the first one ...

Grandma Cindy 04-01-2009 05:15 AM

Spectacular...

sewjoyce 04-01-2009 05:44 AM

That's simply gorgeous!!

cynde 04-01-2009 07:24 AM

Thank you all for your input to help me decide, and comments on the finished product.

I was 10 inches short when it cam time to put on the border, so this disaster turned into a design opportunity. I put the 1/4 mariner compass blocks in the corners, which I think looks better than a plain border anyway.

I did leave the border off the top of the quilt on purpose (planned to from the very beginning), I find that the top border never shows on a bed when it is made, so decided to just forget it. Has anyone else ever done this?

Debbie1 04-01-2009 07:50 AM

I turned out gorgeous! Love it!

jbsstrawberry 04-01-2009 06:56 PM

Absolutely AWESOME!!! Spectacular work!!

littlehud 04-01-2009 07:55 PM
