How about the faux Cathedral Window made with 9" circles - black being the 'other' color. Missouri Quilt Company has a Utube tutorial on this. It's also a qayo and done whenever you like the size.

Oh yes, I love this & think your colors would look wonderful bordered w/a strong color.

Here's a Trip Around The World I did....with the sashing strips, you didn't have to line up hundreds of seams! :)

How about a Bargello? There really easy.

sculham 07-09-2011 06:26 AM

I made a windmill quilt with these same fabrics with a yellow background. I started by stripping them at 2 1/2". A nice cherry quilt that my neice loves.

Tudey 07-09-2011 06:40 AM

A bargello heart springs to mind immediately, especially because I have always wanted to do one in rainbow colors!

ShirlinAZ 07-09-2011 07:08 AM

I made pinwheels with those prints! They have such great motion. Anything you make will be beautiful.

Nikki and Co. 07-09-2011 08:10 AM

Michelle, thanks for the pattern site, it's awesome.

Landers 07-09-2011 08:56 AM

What a wonderful brother. Good luck with the quilt, whichever you choose to do. It will be a pretty one.

kwilter 07-09-2011 09:49 AM

IMHO, I think your fabrics would look gorgeous in the "A Walk in the Park" pattern featured in Missouri Star Quilting's YouTube tutorial - with either a WOW or B&W print....(wish I had them).....(sigh)

Make 3 ohio stars out of each color, with an either black or white background.
That will give you 42 of them = 6 blocks by 7 blocks!
That can be fun to arrange - keep a rainbow in mind...
One of the borders could be a vine with tiny ohio stars - as flowers .
Or multicolored rows of joined squares in a strip for one of the borders.
or ...piano keys !

gypsylady5 07-09-2011 10:20 AM

A dresden Plate quilt would be outstanding. Or a Fan quilt.... Really pretty fabrics. Would love to have them to work with.

MDMPanther 07-09-2011 10:28 AM

Love all the suggestions....how about one more....the Slide Show by Atkinson Designs with black borders!

Not sure, but I think you would have to multiple the amounts given by the number of blocks you would need. BTW, good choice, with white background? Maybe black?

I just finished ( I mean like last night!) making that very same pinwheel #8 for a king size bed. I made 56 blocks; 7 accross and 8 down. The blocks complete at 10"; I did 2" sashing all around; then a 3" inside border and a 6" outside border. My quilt finished at 104 x 114. I would post a pic but I took it to the LA'r this morning. My advise is to measure your bed and decide how long you want the sides and length to be, then count how many blocks and width of borders you need to get to that measurement.

emmah 07-09-2011 11:32 AM

Since you like birds, why not try to find a parrot pattern-one with exotic birds and flowers? The colors seem to go well for something like this? Maybe machine applique? Or do a simple background of blocks and applique one large bird on it.

joyce888 07-09-2011 11:38 AM

Sandi, I just posted regarding the pinwheel #8; if you decide to use it let me know and I'll tell you how I cut the pieces; might save you some time. Joyce

sammy89 07-09-2011 02:17 PM

i have some of those too funny

sisLH 07-09-2011 02:22 PM

I have a very simple pattern and it takes 14 colors. I just wish I knew how to post a picture on here. There are so many times that I would like to show something.

GV09 07-09-2011 02:24 PM

I think:
1) http://fibracreativa.wordpress.com/2...il-y-versatil/

2) http://www.freshlemonsquilts.com/?p=1016

And there's an avatar here do not know how the pattern is called, are "bricks" with black border and "fit" each other!
The fabrics are gorgeous! Now show us the wonder that will leave your hands!
A hug!

psquared52 07-09-2011 02:31 PM

I have at least 5 different colors of the same pattern! Must have been very popular.

donnalynett 07-09-2011 02:38 PM

2.5"x4.5" rectangles sewed together in different directions goes very fast.

milikaa1 07-09-2011 05:13 PM

I have some beatiful gem tone polyester fabric and was going to make either 8" of 10" squares with them and call it good, I think the colors will make the quilt, not sure if that is something you would like to do, but I think it is easy and effective.

If you use an imac I can help, but if not, just post the question. "How do I post pictures?" Members will walk you through it.

perfect for your fabrics. very 30's, both the colors and the pattern. i wouldn't use sashing, just the white background.
it has the same feel as the dresden plate, but it'll go faster without the applique.

4EVERquilt 07-09-2011 07:31 PM

What beautiful fabric, anything you make is sure to come out nice.

I don't have an idea for a quilt, but I sure think you have a very thoughtful brother. I LOVE all the colors. Have fun!

Sorry, I can't take credit for this one. I saw it posted here abt a month or so ago and thought that the bright colors stood out so nicely and yet a more basic pattern. Looks to me like it could be made in choice of 4 or 6" sq's to equal 8 -12" blocks. What do you think? Maybe post it and ask who recognizes the pattern? I don't follow patterns so much as what I do just by viewing one like this and then make it whatever size I'd like.

butterflywing 07-10-2011 10:16 AM

very pretty quilt

zz-pd 07-10-2011 07:11 PM

How about a stain glass quilt.
GOD bless.

Gerbie 07-10-2011 07:19 PM

I think I would use it to make 3d pinwheels out of all of it and mix them up for some and keep all same colors for others and put them on a BLACK or white background. They would definitely pop on a black background. Make a dresden plate pattern, or any beutiful quilt from those colors., Maybe a crazy quilt in the making, log cabin, anything would turn out beautiful with those lovely colors, a reversible quilt would be great.Check out Sharon Pedderson's reversible quilts. She has some beauties and some great ones in her book.
