What a wonderful brother. Good luck with the quilt, whichever you choose to do. It will be a pretty one.

IMHO, I think your fabrics would look gorgeous in the "A Walk in the Park" pattern featured in Missouri Star Quilting's YouTube tutorial - with either a WOW or B&W print....(wish I had them).....(sigh)

Make 3 ohio stars out of each color, with an either black or white background.
That will give you 42 of them = 6 blocks by 7 blocks!
That can be fun to arrange - keep a rainbow in mind...
One of the borders could be a vine with tiny ohio stars - as flowers .
Or multicolored rows of joined squares in a strip for one of the borders.
or ...piano keys !

A dresden Plate quilt would be outstanding. Or a Fan quilt.... Really pretty fabrics. Would love to have them to work with.

Love all the suggestions....how about one more....the Slide Show by Atkinson Designs with black borders!

Sandy

Not sure, but I think you would have to multiple the amounts given by the number of blocks you would need. BTW, good choice, with white background? Maybe black?

I just finished ( I mean like last night!) making that very same pinwheel #8 for a king size bed. I made 56 blocks; 7 accross and 8 down. The blocks complete at 10"; I did 2" sashing all around; then a 3" inside border and a 6" outside border. My quilt finished at 104 x 114. I would post a pic but I took it to the LA'r this morning. My advise is to measure your bed and decide how long you want the sides and length to be, then count how many blocks and width of borders you need to get to that measurement.

Since you like birds, why not try to find a parrot pattern-one with exotic birds and flowers? The colors seem to go well for something like this? Maybe machine applique? Or do a simple background of blocks and applique one large bird on it.

Sandi, I just posted regarding the pinwheel #8; if you decide to use it let me know and I'll tell you how I cut the pieces; might save you some time. Joyce
