Your block is beautiful. I love the fabrics. Florals are my favorites. Everything matched up so well. You did an awesome job.

You did a great job getting your points to match. That's the key to any neat sewing. Welcome to the site and keep posting those pictures !!

Very good job. How many more blocks are you making? Will they be the same or different?

9 more, the same

kwiltkrazy 05-05-2010 09:39 PM

What's a row robin? I've heard of a round robin, but not a row robin.

KiwiQuilter 05-05-2010 09:49 PM

Lovely block - well done.

I'm with you, I'm not even sure how a round robin works. My sisters have tried to explain it to me but it's not something I've been able to wrap my head around yet.

quiltluvr 05-06-2010 09:54 AM

It's where the participants each make an entire row of blocks, then all the rows submitted by all the participants will be sewn together to make the top. There is a time limit to complete each row before it is passed onto the next participant until all have made the specified number of rows.

Whoever organizes it determines the size of the blocks that make up the rows, which of course sets the row size, as well as stating the colors, theme-if so desired, and any other requirements for the project.

raptureready 05-06-2010 10:15 AM

Okay, so who ends up with the top in the end? And how do you know if you're going to like what the next person does?

each person participating ends up with a top. i don't care what mine ends up looking like, it's more the thought that someone would want to help me create a quilt.

raptureready 05-06-2010 10:22 AM

Ohhhh so if 10 people are making "a" row you do 10 of your rows, one for each quilt. Right?

quiltluvr 05-06-2010 10:36 AM

Yes, you could certainly do it that way. That's basically the purpose of a "robin" so everyone helps everyone out. It's somewhat of a take on a mystery quilt, you don't know until it's all put together what it looks like, beyond the basic instructions, so if you're really flexible this is a great way to get a wonderful project made with many hands.

There are varying ways of organizing it. I just googled and read different ways it can be done.

Actually each person does 1 row and sends it to the next person, that person does a row to match , then sends it on, When it comes back to you have 12 rows complete ,each one done by someone else

sandpat 05-07-2010 04:52 AM

Yes, but the quilt police are not coming for you if they aren't done, some may be a few days late as to being in other swaps. These are general guidelines, which we will try and stay on some kind of schedule

nwm50 05-07-2010 10:08 AM

raspberryparade09 05-07-2010 03:31 PM

I really like the fabric's that you've used. Blue is my favorite color. Do you know what fabric company makes them? Or can you tell me where you found them (I'm in Michigan too!)

Belles.hold 05-07-2010 06:30 PM

Judy G & Kerri, great looking blocks, beautiful fabric and wonderful piecing skillls. I'm eager to begin my first row of the Row Robin, but I still have the Library Quilt to finish for my daughter's school Librarian who is retiring the end of May.

I especially like the block that Materialgrl chose for the first row and the instructions for the other 11 rows will be fun and create beautiful quilts. Belles
