I just got through quilting a little baby quilt - quite proud of it, if I must say so myself. When lo and behold I turn it over and find ... well check the pics and see. I laughed out loud and hope you do too - better to laugh than cry, right?

The backing is flannel and the little triangle is from another project that was ready and waiting -- too close to the sewing machine, I reckon.

I'll rip --- tomorrow!

SheriR 10-05-2012 09:59 PM

Oh jan! Well... The baby quilt is just darling. :D

quiltsRfun 10-05-2012 10:07 PM

Applique the edges down and pretend it was intentional. ;)
Love the quilt.

JanTx 10-05-2012 10:11 PM

LOL at QuiltsRfun - then I have to include a little triangle applique on all future projects, because it becomes my signature design idea, right?

Delbra 10-05-2012 10:25 PM

I have done that and its just a little something extra l always say. Shows you're human.

busy fingers 10-05-2012 10:53 PM

I feel your frustration. I did something similar - part of the item that I was quilting somehow got caught up and I re-sewed over it. I was about 3/4 way through when I discovered what had happened. I have just spent 3 hours unpicking it all. Needless to say I was not very happy with myself.

QuiltnNan 10-06-2012 02:54 AM

are you sure you didn't intend that to be a design element? LOL
cute quilt

nunnyJo 10-06-2012 03:14 AM

a pop of color, just what every quilt needs. great to laugh at oneself?

Perfect spot for the label!!

Adorable fabric - I love the elephants.

KathyC9511 10-06-2012 04:17 AM

I did the same thing on a charity quilt! Got to love our quilting boo boos!!!

fixfido 10-06-2012 04:21 AM

Been there, done that!

Homespun 10-06-2012 04:38 AM

Don't rip out the stitching! Cut the green as close as possible to the stitching and with your seam ripper or a long pin, shred the green fabric and remove it. It works. I have to do it a lot!!!

girlsfour 10-06-2012 04:46 AM

Oh well - nice quilt though! Thanks for sharing.

Quilter 65 10-06-2012 05:06 AM

Been there, done that. The other thing I have done that maddens me is to cut a piece out and get it "just right" and then it shows up on the mat under a piece of material unbeknownst to me. Find it later perfectly sliced in two. Grrrrr... Glad to know I am not the only one. Hopefully, it will sweeten the rip time if you decide to do that.

joyce j 10-06-2012 05:43 AM

The quilt is a beauty. That little green piece love it , just decided it wanted to be a part of it also.

kateyb 10-06-2012 05:43 AM

Been there, done that. It gave me a chuckle. Cute baby quilt.

RkayD 10-06-2012 05:47 AM

That IS funny! Please leave it! Sew it down~give it a kiss~say a prayer for the baby and send it on its way.

QuiltingJaguar 10-06-2012 05:54 AM

Oh well it gives it character!! LOL fun job

jansquiltn 10-06-2012 05:55 AM

I think all of us have been there. I've taken to clearing my whole work area and a quick dust just before I start. Those few seconds probably saved me many hours of FROGGING. Ha Ha!

Diane007 10-06-2012 06:09 AM

LOL

Don't you just hate that

4EVERquilt 10-06-2012 06:40 AM

I think I've done that before too, at any rate your quilt is cute.

sewsew busy 10-06-2012 06:49 AM

Love the quilt.

Oh I agree! It will be your little private secret and if the quilt is going to a relatives baby, you can tell the 'secret' years from now when the child is grown! What a story that will be!!!

Tartan 10-06-2012 06:58 AM

Oh NOOOOOOO! Great quilt and nice job on the quilting. I like Homespun's idea for removing the offending triangle if you don't need it for another project. I will have to remember that for the next time it happens to me.:D

I've done that too!

Baloonatic 10-06-2012 07:01 AM

Yesterday I was binding a quilt and discovered that one long corner had flipped up and gotten quilted in. I trimmed the errant fabric really close to the stitch line and was able to pull it free without mishap. Perhaps it will work for you as well :) Otherwise, you could cover it with your label!

DebbE 10-06-2012 07:03 AM

The baby quilt is wonderful, and oh boy, have I done things like that, too! But you hate to have to rip out stitches! Thanks for sharing with us - we all feel your pain! : )

krafty14 10-06-2012 07:26 AM

I agree with the perfect spot for the label. But if you really want it off, could you trim real close to the stitching, then fray and pull out the remaining fabric threads?? Ann

cindyw 10-06-2012 09:43 AM

Love it! Mistakes are so easy to make and such a time killer. Cute quilt!

Helen S 10-06-2012 09:45 AM

That's funny! lol I guess you could always turn it into an ark applique to go with all those fabulous animals, but much easier, I'm sure, to just rip the stitches and re-stitch!

Sierra 10-06-2012 10:18 AM

I'm for signing your name and date on it!

Needed that little triangle for another project so rip-rip-rip. Didn't take long to rip and restitch. I KNEW that other project was on the table, but thought this was such a little quilt it would be fine. Okay, I was wrong. So from now on ... at least while I remember this ... I'll clear that table.

Thanks for all the fun!

sewnsewer2 10-06-2012 02:16 PM

Oh no! I have done that before too. LOL

cowgirlquilter 10-06-2012 02:18 PM

Oh my gosh Jan, you certainly made me smile! I am sure we are all chuckling as we have all been there one way or another!!!

Cindy60545 10-07-2012 03:12 AM

Oh Jan! I agree, throw a label over it & have a good chuckle!

Narda H. 10-07-2012 03:16 AM

That is just too funny! You made my day! The quilt is precious!
