I have been doing machine applique' for years. so I'm not a newbie at this, but there are SO many tiny pieces, I'm afraid they will "overshadow" each other even with a very small satin stitch. I put it aside for now...haven't given up and will eventually do it, I'm sure. I just started another applique' group..."Affairs of the Heart"...and have 12 of the 36 blocks ironed/fused but not appliqued. More small pieces, but not like MR's.
How did you applique' yours, or did you since you are using it as a wall hanging?

I have one of her BOM that I'm going to start on shortly. From the ones I've seen at the quilt shows that were finished and from what I've read you do a straight stitch around the applique pieces, not a satin or button hole or any type of applique stitch. Because these are art quilts and not meant to be machine washed is the reason. I'm pretty sure I either read it on her web site or in my directions also.

Drue I have done several MR's and I fuse allthe pieces down and then meander quilt all over with nylon (invisable) thread, since it will not be washed it holds everything down quite well.
