Thank you all for your condolences and compliments. These quilts were very soul satisfying, as I would remember, remember, remember while I sewed. My mom & dad were there, encouraging me.

I love your memory quilt. We just had my Mom's service last week and my son did a wonderful video for the service. I would like to use these photos for it but wonder how you make all the squares come out right. Do you make the photos first then make the rest or do the reverse.

I scanned all the photos I wanted to use (and some extras) and put them all in a file on my computer. I printed pictures out, sometimes making pictures smaller or larger and working to get the right colors. When I had a stack of photos on fabric, I took them to my studio and started playing with them...I would group and just started adding strips and paper pieced blocks and ended up making rather large blocks, but wth no set design in any of them. I tried to include scanned pictures of old letters and envelopes and such...these I scanned as collages and used that as background fabrics in some places. I ended up making about 15 1/2" blocks, but had many smaller pieces and pictures within that block. I hope that helps...

I love your memory quilt! Your family will always cherish it. I made one for my brother also but it isn't quite quilted yet. I need to get it out & finish it.

These are lovely, and will keep her memory alive for several
more generations.

I've wanted to do things like this, but have no one around here
to question how long the printing job will last, and how many
washings it will take before fading out.

You did an excellent job on these quilts, and your family should
be grateful for all your hard work. Congratulations on having such a loved Mother, she must have been a good woman to have such loving children.

Thank you! She was a good mom, and since daddy had passed many, many years prior, it seemed like the time to combine pictures of both mom and dad.

Regards washing and fading...really, even though you use treated fabric and such, I wouldn't recommend washing but rarely, and you must keep it out of direct sunlight always. It's not a project to be crazy with and get tons of wear and tear...more for looking at and even hanging on a wall out of sunlight, or draped on a bed...you can always come to the quilting board to ask questions...
