Mom's SkateBoard Quilt

2 Attachment(s)
A few weeks ago I posted a picture of my skateboard quilt called "Let's Roll."

http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...t-t274809.html

Mom (age 91) finished one with duplicate skateboards that I gave her. Also pictured is a large quilt she made from blocks given to her by a friend. Both are now ready for the Bible Camp quilt auction. They were machine quilted by a longarmer.

I wish I lived closer to her, but we quilt together whenever we can!

Lovely quilts. It's great your mother is still quilting at 91.

I hope I follow in your mom's footsteps. Kudos to her at 91 !!!!!!!!!!!!

LoriEl 02-02-2016 02:29 PM

I'm sure the quilts will raise a lot of money at the auction. God Bless your mom-such a great job at 91!

How precious these are and that you get to still quilt with your mom. :)
My mom had a stroke in September that has left her with limited mobility and speech. She was a my dearest quilting buddy but now has moved to GA to be cared for by my dear brother and his family. I miss her so much that I am still totally stuck and have not been quilting these days. You are so blessed!

They are great quilts. My son would have loved the skate board quilt in his teens. He rode those things.

Quilter 65 02-02-2016 07:23 PM

That second quilt is so beautiful and more my thing. She is an awesome quilter! Congratulations to you both on doing such admirable work.

quiltingshorttimer 02-02-2016 07:25 PM

Great quilts! I want to "grow up" to be your Mom--what a testament that she's still quilting and doing an excellent job!
My own Mom went to a quilt retreat with my sis, daughter and me about 8 months before she died--not feeling well enough to quilt and said she didn't even bring her machine cause real reason she came was to chat with all her friends! Know how you're feeling, Jan.

red-warrior 02-03-2016 06:38 PM

Great quilts and for a good cause! Both of your are generous with your time and talents!

BETTY62 02-03-2016 08:26 PM

Your Mom's quilts are awesome.

twinkie 02-04-2016 03:57 AM

I love seeing your Mom and knowing you get to quilt together. My Mom was very, very talented. She made Ball Room gowns, wedding gowns, was a fabulous cake decorator, made beautiful floral arrangements but never quilted. I would have loved to see her quilt. What beautiful treasures those are.

skypony 02-04-2016 04:18 AM

they are wonderful quilts. I love the skateboard one. So many different fabrics and such. just wonderful.

copycat 02-04-2016 04:36 AM

Your Mother is very talented. I hope to be sewing in my 90's also. Keep up the great work!

jmoore 02-04-2016 04:36 AM

that's awesome... great that you can get together to quilt from time to time... enjoy every moment with her.

redquilter 02-04-2016 04:41 AM

Wonderful quilts and so nice to donate them. Bless you and your mom. I hope I can still thread a needle if I reach 91. She's terrific!

quilterpurpledog 02-04-2016 04:54 AM

Wonderful quilts. I made the skateboard quilt last year for a grandson who was graduating from high school. I think it is fun that your mom made a duplicate of yours and another one besides for the Bible camp auction. Keep quilting together even if the miles separate you. I hope I can quilt when I am 91-it is not that many years away!

Fabric Galore 02-04-2016 08:54 AM

I love both quilts and it is truly remarkable that your mother is still quilting at 91. Does she make quilts regularly?

MargeD 02-04-2016 10:10 AM

You are so lucky to be able to quilt with your Mom, either together or long distance. She looks amazingly young.

cathyvv 02-04-2016 12:14 PM

Those are great quilts. My Mom has gone to her reward, but I wish I could quilt with her, too. Treasure your time with your Mother and all the good memories that you can keep for ever.

cowgirlquilter 02-04-2016 01:49 PM

Wow these are fantastic and your Momma is beautiful!

northern lass 02-04-2016 02:22 PM

chichimamma 02-04-2016 03:26 PM

I really like the pink and green quilt, what is the name of the pattern or who made it?

Thank you for the compliment! I believe the quilt pattern is called "In Bloom", but I don't know the company. Mom's friend took a class several years ago with her daughters. The blocks were partly sashed in beige, and she didn't like how that looked, so the blocks were put away. Last summer she brought them to Mom to finish. Mom took off the sashing and with the help of my sister and niece selected the sashing and border fabrics that you see.

ccthomas 02-04-2016 05:56 PM

Nice quilts.

I just talked to Mom and got more information. The designer is Jackie Robinson from Animas Quilts. The "In Bloom" pattern is available at: http://pumpkincreekfabrics.com/catal...age=4&sale=yes

The colors and block arrangement are different from the choices on Mom's quilt. She actually said that looking at the pattern picture, she could barely recognize it as the same quilt!
