Oh, that is just too cute. Looks like it was a lot of work - wouldn't want to mix up your squares - must have taken lots of concentration & patience. Wonderful results.
|
That is awesome! Thanks for sharing!
|
Really cute..
|
THAT is awesome! Super job, perfect layout, colors, and their little faces are adorable!

VERY cute. I love the pattern. I am seriously hoping that I don't get to make one though as I am sick of monkeys - the past 5 baby quilts I have made have all been for Monkey themed nurseries - I might as well have bought a bolt of Erin Michaels' Funky Monkeys... I did simple YBR's that I didn't mind if they got dirty and dragged around, but that quilt is gorgeous.

For some reason, I have not been a fan of the snail's trail blocks. However, you have done an absolutely beautiful job of adding your special touch to give it a whole nother look!! The colors are great & I love the ingenuity of adding the tails & the faces. SOOOOOO cute!! Congrats on a job very well done!

This is amazing. You are very talented.

Somebody posted a similar quilt January 24th on this board. She said that the pattern was out of worldquilters magazin. Looking at it I figured it could be done with any size of snail trail blocks. Gladie was so nice to send me a 9 inch snail trail pattern for paper piecing. I did not "finish" the blocks, I only added three rounds of triangles. The biggest triangles I assembled seperately, that way it was much easier to add the tails (hand applique) and the heads (embroidery.com)it also was possible to put a triangle of background fabric under the chin of the monkeys. Then I joined the blocks on point as you can see on the picture. The finished size is 74" x 65 " I love it and I think it also could be done with frogs.........without tails of course:-) Now it will have to wait for quilting till my Horizon is back from repair. Thanks for looking Granny Judyr808 |
I'm new at this and I believe I posted in the wrong place, sorry... Judyr808

Wow, so much talent and creativity on this board. Haven't been quilting long so I appreciate the generosity of all the sharing of ideas and "how-to" that goes on in these posts.
Granny_59, your quilt is adorable. |
What a great job you did. I wanted to make one, but couldn't find the magazine she found the pattern in and I wasn't smart enough to figure out how to make it like you did....way to go, yours looks fantastic. What is the name of the pattern that created the monkey face? Inquiring minds want to know.
Love it! |
What a great quilt, especially with the grey monkeys seeming to face into the background.

They are so cute!!! Thanks for sharing!!!

Love it! I copie the text of post #37: It looks much harder than it is! All you need are 42 paper pieced snail trail blocks, one of the easiest blocks for paper piecing. Only the center is slightly different: instead of a fourpatch you add a triangle - look at the pic and you will see what I mean. In my case 14 brown/grey and another 14 in brown/grey as mirror image to the first 14 and 7 in orange/grey and again 7 mirror images of that. If you look at the legs you can see that they are all the same: two turning to the right, two to the left. I printed the paper piecing templates and colored one of each categorie by hand and then copied the number needed. Then I put it on the floor, was able to see the monkeys and sewed one by one. The last row of triangles I pinned to it and then I could see which four had to go together for the bodies ore the background. Well, I guess I can sew better than explaining..........lol It was really not hard and I hope some of you try it out. Or maybe somebody comes up with frogs out of the same pattern! lol Granny |
