6 of 20 done and I have 4 more of the handle parts done and ready to sew to baskets.
My plan is to do a Warm Wishes type border around the baskets with thin strips of the various black, white, and red fabrics. I won't know for sure until I am done with the baskets and figure out exactly what material is left. I think maybe a fussy cut apple as corner blocks on the borders. The apple fabric will be sashing and outside border, maybe a small border of the white and cherry fabric since I have a lot of it. Will just have to see what it comes out like, I won't know till it's done. |
Wow, this looks great - love the fabrics!
|
That's adorable! Is it another baby quilt? Love that apple fabric!
|
What a cheery looking selection of fabrics!!
Someone has a real flair for colour and design. Inherited maybe from a talented mother????? |
Those are cute!
|
lol... Yes, my oldest daughter picked out the fabric. It's not a baby quilt, it's for her, 27 years old. She doesn't like florals at all though she is a girlie-girl. She loves purses and shoes and she thought these were purses. I already have the label printed and it says in part, "She can call them purses if she wants to."
|
Those are turning out so cool. Can't wait to see the finished quilt.
|
Your blocks are wonderful, love the apple fabrics!!! Awesome :D :D :D

The baskets are great! I love all the fabrics, can't wait to see it finished! Your work always amazes me!

Oh my... I laugh when I look at this. Not sure if it looks fun or funny but it makes me smile.
Maybe I'll be done with it this weekend, about 20 more of the strips to do. |

Fab work as usual from you - love the colours used in this range kind of Retro & lively. Your daughter will be over the moon with the end result. Well Done. Tisha |

Those sashing strips took forever to do! I didn't do them the easy way of doing long strips and then cutting them because some of the FQs weren't quite long enough to get even two 10 1/2" pieces across the width.
I need to piece the borders because if I did them the length of the fabric the apples are all off-set and it didn't look right. I think I might give it to my daughter to take to the LQS near her we went to and see about getting it quilted. I just don't have the time to hand quilt another one. |
This is really pretty. I love those colors, the black with the bright yellow and red. And I'm kind of an apple person so I really like the borders.
|
Looking applelicious! Hi Tanyamarie - ain't your mama clever?!

I really love this quilt so cheerful! You did a great job and am sure your daughter will love it, even if it isn't a purse :-)
|
Great job Pam! I love how you put this one together! Why don't you give machine quilting a try yourself? I know you can do it
|
i know you can't be sleeping, but this is just 'dreamy' (a retro word to go with a retro quilt)
|
Thanks all. It does look cheerful. But dang!! I just saw that the top row of borders is wrong!! So carefully laid everything out, looked it over and over, but I still managed to put a mistake in it!!
Aw well, no one is perfect. :-) I thought about trying to machine quilt the baby quilt I just did but, decided not too. I tried it once and it was horrible, the stitching was just bad. I haven't tried it on my new machine and I would have to do a lot of practicing first. |
