I love it when I have friends over and they poke through my rooms and workshop and find they like things they hadn't dreamed of. As a result I was asked to duplicate a recent piece. This woman DID tell me what she HAD to have in her piece and I was happy to comply. So this is similar but different from the original.

Yes, tulle is the over lay to hold the background in place before stitching it down.
Thanks MK

w1613s 04-13-2013 09:19 AM

Ahhhhhh. Marvelous! Oh if I could only create like that. I, much to my sadness, am a technician.

This week I got into one of the largest bookstores (new and used) in the southern US. I picked up a book, PIECED QUILTS OF ONTARIO written by Dorothy K. Burnham, Textile Department, Royal Ontario Museum, Toronto, copyright 1975.

Some of the exhibits shown and discussed in the little book/big brochure were sewn from 1840 forward to just about 1900. I am mentioning them to you because of the huge distance "quilting" has come. I is also fascinating to discover there are still aficionados of every form of quilting still practicing today. You are practicing my favorite part: modern.

Thanks,

Pat
