More Fractures

2 Attachment(s)
No not my legs or arms. I am having a blast with the fractured looks I am creating with drawings found online. I made another ginger jar vase and am in the process of making a teapot. This is a wonderful way to use up small pieces. The jar wall hanging is 13 x 16.

I like them both but that teapot is wonderful.

So do I. Is there a tute somewhere?

jclinganrey 08-22-2017 04:49 AM

Great job and really cool technique. Was this your own technique or was it from a pattern? Would love to know more abut it.

misspriss 08-22-2017 05:08 AM

Will these be iron on applique?

Boston1954 08-22-2017 05:46 AM

Basically, I find a drawing I like and trace it directly from the computer screen onto parchment paper. Using that as a "map", I then re-trace onto my Wonder Under 805. This way it uses less of the wonder under. I trace each little shape and then cut them out before pressing onto the fabric I picked for that section. I love iron on applique because it keeps the pieces where I want them until I satin stitch them down.

Any chance you would share the drawings site with us?

Actually there is no one site. I just put in words like "drawing of a ginger jar" or "drawing of a wooden bucket" and see what comes up. There are bunches to choose from. Have fun.

tessagin 08-22-2017 06:09 AM

Like a crazy quilt pattern with finesse!! The're beautiful!

What a fun thing to do.

I just find neat drawings of things I think are pretty, and go from there. I cannot draw, but others can and there are a lot of them.

lawsonmugs 08-22-2017 10:44 AM

very pretty. Are you using iron on gold 1/4" bias tape between the different fabrics? This is a wonderful new process to try.

The gold between the pieces is the satin stitching. It is wonderful because it covers up any pieces that might not be right next to each other.

What a clever idea......great result.

EmiliasNana 08-22-2017 01:14 PM

Love how you cut the teapot !

Nice projects.

Lilrain 08-22-2017 11:07 PM

Are you using metallic thread? If so, brand?

lass 08-23-2017 04:02 AM

Love the teapot too!

I don't know if it is metallic, but it sure is shiny. Very pretty. The brand name is Floriani and the color is PF531. I am thinking that they can also be done with silver, white, or even black. I am already making two more.

madamekelly 08-23-2017 01:53 PM

That is really beautiful. Are you using satin stitch or narrow bias for the gold outline?

quiltlady1941 08-23-2017 09:07 PM

Oh my, I love the beautiful colors and your tea pot is so cute, both are very pretty, Great job

djmat 08-24-2017 08:11 AM
