Here are two more pictures of my quilt that I started (hand-pieced) in Oct 2009. It is going to be for a full-size bed.

No, it's not hard. The key is to get the points to line up. I'm using Jenny Beyer's Perfect Piecer and it's been the key to my success, I believe.

ScrapQuilter 01-11-2010 07:22 PM

Just love it.......... like the scrappy look..
Will be watching for the finished quilt. Great work

Sweet! Keep up the progress - you should be so proud. It looks great.

I started on a tumbling blk just learning how to quilt and the colors that I had chose well I'll put it this way it makes me dizzy looking at it so it is one of those UFO's. I had to sew mine by machine because of my eyes. You are doing very well on yours I like it.

Quilter7x 01-11-2010 07:38 PM

You're doing a great job. Love that it is scrappy!

zkosh 01-11-2010 07:49 PM

Really nice! It's another one on my to-do list!!

Lisanne 01-11-2010 08:19 PM

That is just fabulous! Tumbling blocks is probably my favorite traditional quilt pattern. Yours is a ton of fun to look at!

wvdek 01-11-2010 08:20 PM

"A quilt of many colors". I like it.

Katrine 01-11-2010 10:39 PM

That's lovely, very colourful and beautifully pieced.

Naturalmama 01-11-2010 10:52 PM

That is amazing - I can see how easy it would be to mess up - you've done a great job!!

lisalovesquilting 01-11-2010 11:58 PM

I admire your patience for all that hand piecing. I love the colorful prints.

k3n 01-12-2010 01:11 AM

This is beautiful - I love your fabric placement, you've really done justice to the 3D effect. :D I've done a small wall hanging of this and I pieced over papers (figuring that was the only way I'd keep the points in order!)- are you hand piecing the conventional way, ie drawing a sewing line around a template? Your points are perfect! :-D

I am cutting out my pieces with a rotary cutter then using my Perfect Piecer to make my sewing lines. I have (I hope) all the diamonds I'll need already cut out and sitting in a Ziploc bag. Thanks everyone for all the compliments. I'll continue to post pictures as I progress.

rootyr 01-12-2010 02:38 AM

Beautiful! I have the fabric and a pattern to do one but haven't had the time. Thanks for the inspiration!

ranger 01-12-2010 05:17 AM

It's wonderful. The 3-D effect is amazing. You are doing a fantastic job. I look forward to seeing your progress.

Jingle 01-12-2010 06:56 AM

It is gorgeous and very bright. I don't know if I could do the tumbling blocks, I sure like the looks of them. You are doing a great job.

BKinCO 01-12-2010 07:08 AM

Whoa! That's awesome!

Elisabrat 01-12-2010 07:17 AM

I am impressed. A great scrappy tumbling block. Bold colors, your poor little fingers will be raw by the time you finish this! I think you won't be bored for a really long time.

I'm using a 2 1/4 inch diamond. That includes seam allowances. The reason it is such a strange size is because I was using a template at first - from an old book if I remember correctly - then I learned how to rotary cut so I finished cutting my diamonds that way.

Ditter43 01-12-2010 01:10 PM
