very cute-both are awesome

QweenBee 06-11-2011 04:46 AM

Very cute! How do you get the blocks to POP off the quilt like that? They look 3 dimentional! Very nice!

SewExtremeSeams 06-11-2011 05:03 AM

Hi Ronda, I love your mini quilts. What is that you have done with the purple and white one? Your little squares look raised. Beautiful! :-D

Oops... sorry, I just now read that you explained everything on page 2. ...will read!

obie2 06-11-2011 05:13 AM

Both are very pretty. Nice work.

Dkm 06-11-2011 05:36 AM

I've read everything posted and have a question? what type of batting?

munchkinmama 06-11-2011 05:58 AM

You are a genius!!

4girlsmimi 06-11-2011 06:19 AM

These are gorgeous. Looks like fun too. I may need to make quilts that size so I would get them finished and not have so many UFOs.
Yeah, right! I have come to the conclusion, if you're a quilter, you are destined to have UFOs. LOL!

pmintpat 06-11-2011 06:31 AM

That second one, the mosaic, looks very well done. Seems as though it would be good for baby, young child, older child, etc. Thanks for sharing. Love the quilt.

Teresa 54 06-11-2011 06:37 AM

you just gave me a great idea!

Not at all! Thanks for the compliment! I thought I might also make a smaller one for the Alzheimer's Auctions...

So glad to see others supporting the Alzheimer's Auctions!

Several of you have asked what I did to make the squares "pop". I used a very low loft batting, but not warm and natural...that's a tiny bit too low...I then proceeded to quilt between the squares and rectangles...which make them appear to pop! I will take and post a couple more pictures to see if it's easier with pics.

Yep, please. I'd love to see them.

Here are pictures of the back and a closeup of the front, to give you a better understanding of what I did. Thank you all for you kind words and encouragement!

Veronica 06-11-2011 07:01 AM

Two cuties :)

MommaDorian 06-11-2011 07:10 AM

Thanks for the pictures. Do you think the edges of the applique will hold up well in the washing machine? I think I'm going to give this one a try!!

grannypat7925 06-11-2011 07:23 AM

Little beauties!

Sewfine 06-11-2011 07:34 AM

Gorgeous minis. I especially love the 2nd one.

Sewfine 06-11-2011 07:39 AM

It is so amazing how all your line meet up on the back. Not mines. I guess I need more practice.

cctx. 06-11-2011 07:51 AM

love them both.

Doesn't using up small scraps of fabric on minis make you feel GREAT?!?! Love the balancing act of the second quilt, but BOTH are beautiful! Thanks so much for sharing!

mommafank 06-11-2011 08:13 AM

Thank you for being so kind to take the time to share how you did the lovely one on the bottom. It is just amazing and what a super good idea.

mpepperm37 06-11-2011 08:20 AM

I love both. The first would be a fun way to keep "a piece" of quilts made and gifted. Yes, a relative newbie here. Can you share the patterns or names of?
Thanks.

noahscats7 06-11-2011 08:34 AM

Love the simple quilting done on the second one. Good work.

Mariposa 06-11-2011 08:54 AM

Great job there lady! I didn't see the second one the other day-were you hiding it? ;)

Tweety2911 06-11-2011 08:58 AM

Both are very nice. I especially like the 2nd one.

hobbykat1955 06-11-2011 09:19 AM

Thanks for the close ups...It's on my list for the next "doll quilt" swap...Love it...

LOL! I hadn't made it yet! :)

To the person who asked about how the mini will hold up to repeated washings...this won't be washed repeatedly...it's not that type of quilt. You would of course want to applique it more sturdily if you are going to actually use it as a doll quilt instead of artwork on your wall. Hope that makes sense?

Grandma Peg 06-11-2011 09:46 AM

Very nice.

This quilt was inspired by a DQ on page 33 of the May Swap and another project I had seen on a different site...:)

Yes, it makes perfect sense. I've been looking for a good project for a wall hanging, so I've got one. Thanks!

I like them too....after really messing up on a bigger quilt, I have vowed not to make any more big ones so wondering what do you do with smalled (mini) quilts aside from hanging them on walls ?

BeeNana 06-11-2011 10:19 AM

Thanks for sharing and your second quilt is so cute.
Great technique and time consuming. Good job.

ann clare 06-11-2011 10:35 AM

Both are beautiful

Use them on tables...table toppers...

malega 06-11-2011 12:11 PM

Both of them are very nice.

Caro 06-11-2011 01:15 PM

Thanks for the close ups of the front and back. This one mini quilt that I like!

moonwolf47 06-11-2011 02:38 PM

Both are great but the second looks like an organized collage and is fantastic! Great job.

AnnT 06-11-2011 03:16 PM

They both look great but I really like the 2nd one.

karat 06-11-2011 03:28 PM

Both quilts are lovely, but the second one remind me of spring.

Joyce A. 06-11-2011 03:47 PM

They look like they are 3D. Do you have a shadow strip under each one?
