They look great!

Tippy 06-10-2011 09:54 AM

OK.. I just have to ask even if it's nosey.. is the second one pieced or a single "panel" of fabric.. it is just amazing and I LOVE it!!!

Tippy 06-10-2011 09:56 AM

OK.. I've looked as closely as I can.. even got a "nose smudge" on the computer screen... and it looks pieced.. how DID you do that???? You must have the patience of Job...!!!

sewwhat85 06-10-2011 10:27 AM

happymrs 06-10-2011 10:30 AM

A great job on both of them quilts-minis are so much fun.

hobbykat1955 06-10-2011 12:32 PM

Pls tell us abt the second one and how you did it. Reminds me of broken tile pieces...

QuiltnNan 06-10-2011 01:02 PM

i just love the second one!

Jennifer22206 06-10-2011 01:04 PM

that second one is drool - worthy! Mind if I imitate it for an Alz Quilt?

rwquilts 06-10-2011 01:06 PM

Thank you everyone for your kind comments! Okay, the second one was just finished. I fussy cut small squares and rectangles out and positioned them on a background fabric. It takes a bit of time to figure out what you want to do and how to place them...and then you also have to take into consideration the outer edges, making sure they line up, so for the most part I just found things I wanted to include and cut...but as I placed them on the background I did have to cut to fit some of the pieces. I then used a glue stick to attach them to the fabric and then straight stitched around the edges with monofilament thread. You could do whatever method of applique you wanted to do...I just liked the whimsy of a small raw edge.

Great job on both of them. Minis are so fun.

Not at all! Thanks for the compliment! I thought I might also make a smaller one for the Alzheimer's Auctions...

MamaBear61 06-10-2011 01:32 PM

Great quilts, the second one is particularly pretty.

MommaDorian 06-10-2011 01:39 PM

Stunning. I LOVE the 2nd one. Did you quilt the outer border all the way around, or just the top & bottom? I'd love to see the blocks close up. :)

maryel 06-10-2011 01:55 PM

You got my juices stirring for me making one! They are so cute and adorable. Love the 2nd one especially.

Nettie Phillips 06-10-2011 04:48 PM

Both are very pretty.

Thanks! I'm doing the quilt a month club and this'll be my perfect contribution for this month. :) Plus my mom wants a place mat kind of like that! :)

Thank you for the compliment! If you read my long post on page 2, it will explain what I've done. :) It's applique.

When I make my next one, I'll try and remember to take pics and possibly post a tute. Thank you!

quilter68 06-11-2011 04:32 AM

Love them both. I think I will make a mini like that with the scraps of each quilt that I have going.

Now the second one is delightful. A great idea.

hobbykat1955 06-11-2011 04:37 AM

OK I understand it's applique wit just a reg straight stitch around each piece...But as I look at it you have depth between each piece...How did you get that? It looks like each piece puffs out and the lines inbetween are sunken in...Again reminds me so much of tile work and grout lines.

Riversong 06-11-2011 04:41 AM

Adorable!!
