I was grown before I knew it was selvege and not salvage. And why? Doesn't the 'selvege' edge 'salvage' the fabric from ripping?
Love the mouse pads BTW.

Cool. I never would have thought of making mouse pads. Great idea.

Does it need a firm filler or will craft batt or warm and natural work by itself?

I constructed these on scrap muslin and then used one layer of warm and natural and a backing fabric, which I brought to the front for a binding on some of them.

After they were complete I spray starched and ironed. One I made for my husband wasn't starched and it works ok for his laptop. when he is finished with his computer and shuts down. He sits the pad and mouse on the keyboard.

My DH was proof reading a document I was writing and changed selvage to salvage LOL, I had to explain the difference :)

I had the priviledge to actually meet Eleanor Burns last year in Paducah, Ky. She's so sweet that I'm just going to overlook the fact that she pronounces it wrong. She's also much tinier that she looks on tv.
(And I still think that the selvage is there to salvage the edge of the fabric.)

I was watching a video of Eleanor Burns last night and heard her say salvage several times. I probably wouldn't have noticed except for the comment here. I too, forgive her. I've probably said it once or twice myself.

I would not have though that a quilted mouse pad would work what a cute idea for our quilter friends... I must try..
